I have no experience with RH vanities but am happy with the quality of our RH wood dining table, coffee table, side table and library media cabinet, as well as a metal side table. I also just ordered the salvaged dining sideboard and it seems to be a handsome, sturdy piece of furniture, although it's still sitting in my garage and yet to be used. They work well with our antique pine and oak pieces. My RH furniture pieces are all much nicer than some of the damaged furniture I've seen at the outlets, although my coffee table and media unit came from the outlet and they're perfect (after DH glued back on some loose trim from the media cabinet - but it was 60% off and worth the small effort!). The vanities in the RH stores look pretty nice to me, especially compared to my old 1980's vanity! That said, I wouldn't want to order one if I couldn't see it in person first. When we redo our bathroom I'll probably try to save some money and buy the cabinets from Conestoga or Barkers, with a bargain stone remnant for the counter.

I LOL when I saw those book bundles w/ a price tag of $29.99! I thought 'Man - have they finally run out of ideas to get my money? I could do that myself but I wouldn't becuase who would do that to a book? And unless you found books like that in someone's trash who would pay money to buy books to do that?'. Although I love the look of the greyed and weathered wood I'd never buy it. Too pricey to have to put a finish or protectant on it myself. When DH was cleaning up my $2 coffee table I went to the shop to see it. There it stood in all of it's greyed beauty. "IT'S PERFECT!" I shouted and threw my arms around him. "It's not done" he said. "It still has to have a stain or protectant put on it if you ever want it around the kids." We settled on oiling it. When I turned I saw a gorgeous DR table that had the exact same finish as the RH stuff. I said 'Oh wow! That table is like the new RH look!' He said "That one's raw too." I said (and I really am not making fun or light of those folks who love and can afford the stuff - I wish I could!) "Are you telling me that people are paying $5K for a table that's not finished?" "Yep." And the thing is that the stuff really isn't exclusive to RH. They buy a lot from BoBo (something or other) and I see stuff on other sites. But again - if I could afford it - I'd buy it. Just not the book bundles though :0)! Now I recall that RH was originally started by a guy who was having a hard time locating stuff to renovate his San Franciso Victorian. I wonder what he thinks now of the size of the RH furniture. Would it have fit into HIS SF Victorian? I haven't been in many SF Victorians but each SF Victorian home that my dad lived in weren't so big. Oh and yes, RH outlet is the place to go! I recently picked up 2 boudoir shams for $4.99 each, originally $49.99 each and 2 Euro's for $9.99 each, originally $69.99 each. Still can't afford the linen bedding though even at the outlet. Maybe once the porch is done and the kitchen is renovated I'll open an RH account strictly for that. The RH Garden stuiff is TDF this year as were the Garden catalogs!

Thanks all for the feedback and ideas. A few have mentioned hunting down an antique set, which I've been trying to do for the better half of the last year. With these things it's it or miss, and I've been striking out. Either bit too small (want 12 person option), too ornate for our liking or way too proud of their set $$$$$. Have come across a few options on craigslist but I've found that if I'm a day late inquiring the set is gone. Haven't given up but would like something by this holiday season. I actually had an eye on the Hickory White table that Johnatemp mentioned until I found out that the table alone is $3500. With a 2 year old and 5 year old, there's no such thing as a forever piece if its got any veneers. Mimi, I like your idea and style but our kitchen set is very close and we wanted something more formal, yet without tons of glitz/carvings, etc. I haven't had a chance but will look into all the other suggestions that folks have offered. Regarding our Chandelier, it was actually in the house when we moved in. I've looked for the mfg. but havent had any success. Regarding the Rug, it's a Pottery Barn. Not the best quality but the price was right (ebay ~$600 for 9x12 and new). The actual rug is the Tree of Life, which I think is discontinued, but ebay listers seems to list new ones every now and then. When I say not the best quality, it looks fine, but the knot count is nothing like the rug in the pic that meg listed. Even when we get a dining set, we'll only used the room 5 times a year max, so it suites our needs. The curtains are restoration hardware. Decent enough quality, price was so-so, but it was easy non-custom. Again, ebay listers have Pottery Barn panels that are basically the same at much better prices. Georgiagal, can I ask the mfg of your table/sideboard? I like the solid look and the finishes. Thanks Again to all who've taken the time to give ideas. lol.. keeping me busy! I just looked at my house, and I'm not sure if I'm putting it together or taking it all apart! Pictures pulled from all sorts of places! I have darken the gold frame - and will dry it again tomorrow. As I keep looking at it - I do begin to see what I like and what I don't like! Plates - I have some I plan on putting in that room, where - I'm not sure! The plate rack idea might be more perfect in my adjoining breakfast room... I'll need to think on this - and you'll be sure to hear my thoughts! hahaha (I'll post of course!) rafor, I do see that this picture plus the colors, and I like that! I'm just not sure the picture itself fits "this" house.. or at least what envision!
