I think it would depend upon what movies you have already found you really liked, you might not like what others do, but here are mine - My top favorites are: Empire Of The Sun (Stephen Spielburg) Angela's Ashes - both of these two are movies based upon actual biograpies - WONDERFUL Dangerous Liaisons (won Oscars, a 'period' piece) - a movie encompassing ALL the best subjects rolled into one movie: love, hate, games, bullies, revenge, redemption (John Malcovich and Glenn Close) A great murder mystery "Dead Again" starring Emma Thompson and her then-husband Kenneth Braunaugh Don Juan DeMarko (best Johnney Depp movie EVER- a magical romance story) Love Actually (great comedy) But, my husband doesn't like any of these movies - he is more into fantasy stuff like Sci-fi and Lord of the Rings stuff which I find unwatchable. Here's hoping you got some good ideas - these I listed all have been out for quite awhile so they should be easily obtained. I have "Doubt" for this weekend's viewing (Meryl Streep newest) which I'm really looking forward to. However, I'll be watching it alone as He would rather be hogtied and boiled in oil than watch anything "Meryl" *LOL*

Now that this thread is older and most people have had a chance to watch the series I will give my opinion on who killed Theresa. First I would like to address the evidence. I discounted the nephew's testimony for two reasons. The first is that it did not match the physical evidence presented (i.e., he described a bloody indoor crime, and no blood was found in the trailer) and he was clearly coerced during the police interview. I discarded Theresa's keys found on day 8 for two reasons. One was the suspicious nature and timing of them being found. Two was that they did not have Theresa's DNA on them, only Steven's. That leads me to believe the keys were planted. The bullet- I discarded this evidence for a few reasons. One was that the garage was clearly very cluttered. I do not believe Steven would have been able to clean all the blood and and not leave a droplet. A bullet-shot injury would have left a very fine spray of blood which would be almost impossible to clean in a cluttered environment. Next, the bullet did not have blood on it. No blood- so perhaps epithelial (skin) DNA? Very hard to believe you could have that without blood DNA. The blood and DNA in the car. I discarded this due to evidence that showed that the old vial of blood in police custody had been tampered with and a needle mark in the topper. The lab did not use a needle to withdraw blood from the tube so somebody did. I think the blood was planted. Since the police had access to Steven's clothes it is not a stretch to believe they wiped a dirty shirt on the hood latch when IMHO they planted the blood evidence. The BIL and other nephew- They were both on site the day of the crime and both alibied each other. The BIL has a record of sexual assault. At first they look like possible suspects. I don't think they committed the crime and believe they may have alibied each other just to prevent becoming suspects. The calls Steven made to Theresa. I believe this evidence. He called her twice using #67 to hide his identity. He did not use it the third time after her death and left a VM asking Theresa why she didn't show up. This was deception on his part. Theresa- had voiced fear of Steven and his inappropriate behavior towards her. The questions. Why would Steven (or anyone with full access to the property) not use the Smelter to dispose of a body and not crush the car? I believe because they lacked opportunity. There appeared to be people on the property at various times, so the killer may have believed they could dispose of the evidence in time, but ran out of time. Two burn pits? One at the gravel pit and one at Steven's house? Why? So here is the scenario I believe that happened and why. Steven was alone and lonely with his fiance in jail. He had an interest in the pretty car photographer and had acted inappropriately to her in the past. I believe he planned to lure her to his trailer because of his unhealthy interest in her. I think he did not plan to rape and kill her but once he did he tried to provide himself an alibi with that last phone call and voice message. I believe he killed her in his trailer without leaving any blood (for example, he strangled her) and took her body to the gravel pit for disposal. He may have put her body in the garage for a short while while he gathered her belongings from the house- hence the clean up with bleach. I believe he shot her at the gravel pit to make sure she was dead. And somehow one of those bullets found it's way into the garage by someone in law enforcement to bolster the nephew's confession. I believe that Steven hid the car with the hope of crushing it later. I think he did ask his nephew to help him clear the yard and find items to burn and he created the bond fire at his house to get rid of Theresa's clothes and personal items. I believe later he or the investigators added Theresa's bones to the fire pit. Remember- the bones showed signs of being moved. So Steven may have done it hoping to turn everything to ash, or the investigators did it to bolster the case against him. Why am I so convinced Steven did it? Because he lured her to his home and her remains were found there to start with. Next because he was lonely and most likely frustrated. He had an interest in the girl that was not appropriate. Due to his loneliness and his interest in her, he would have watched her drive away when she left. That is human nature. She was at Steven's trailer and the reason he did not watch her drive away is because she never drove away. If she had gotten in her car and been accosted by someone else and dragged out of her car, he would have seen this and reported it to the police. I do not think there was enough evidence to convict Steven of the crime, but I do believe he did in fact murder Theresa. I do not believe his nephew had anything to do with the murder but may have helped with the disposing of her belongings and perhaps her body.

I watched the CBS shows and I've watched the Dateline and some of the Dr. Phil. I don't know what to think, other than believing an intruder is the least-likely scenario. Not impossible, but very unlikely, due to the way the note was written, the way the body was discovered, and Burke's interviews shortly after the crime and 18 months after the crime. Burke said he heard his mother come into his room and then go out of it looking for JonBenet, and then he heard her in hysterics (as he said in the interview afterward "going psycho") and just stayed in bed pretending to sleep or trying to sleep, rather than go try to find out what had happened. Picture your own kids. You burst into your 9 year old's room and then just as suddenly depart. You are frantically crying and screaming, alerting your spouse and then placing a 911 call. Your 9 year old doesn't freeze with fear. They don't hide. They also don't come ask you what's wrong. They don't go find dad and ask what's wrong. They just stay in bed and wait. The only reason I can think of for him to do this is either that he was used to the sound of adults "going psycho" in other parts of the house and did not find that unusual/alarming--or he knew what the problem was and was waiting to find out how his parents were going to handle it.
