What do you use along fencelines for edging?
Comments (7)I already have a bed on the one side of the yard that I share with the neighbor. So I put in a row of scalloped brick edgers (scalloped side down) and it stoped the grass from growing through, but if they do not use the weed wacker... So that is why I am WS coneflowers and rudbeckia. Hopefully, I will have enough to line the back portion of the fence. Now if I can find a tall evergreen flower. Other than what I am trying, I want to see what everyone else is doing. Which is why I posted originally! LOL!...See Morewhat brand of central vacuum do you have and do you really use it
Comments (3)When we bought our home we gutted it and renovated. It had a sad old CV so I immediately replaced it with a brand new BEAM system. Great suction. However, having never lived with a CV I didn't realize how much I would hate it. I absolutely hate lugging a 35' hose around. If you get it out for a major clean session that's one thing but with two small kids I need to vacuum messes all the time. The hose would live lying on my front hall. After 10 years of this, I went out and purchased 2 Miele vacuums (one upright and one canister). I love my Mieles! They are small and easy to pull out and put away quickly. They have exceptional suction and the tools are excellent. Wouldn't trade them for anything right now. After getting the Mieles I realized that the powerhead with my BEAM CV did not do nearly as nice of a job grooming my upstairs broadloom as the new Mieles do. BIG difference that is very noticeable. If you do get a CV, I would invest in the best tools available....See Moredo you have... and what do you use it for?
Comments (9)I use mine to zest lemons. If I'm going to squeeze a lemon for juice; I zest it first. I let the zest dry and then store it in a little jar. It's wonderful to have "real" lemon zest on hand when I want the flavoring. Recently I discovered I was out of ground cinnamon but I did have a pack of cinnamon sticks. (I have never, in my l-o-n-g adult life ran out of ground cinnamon; I was shocked and disappointed in myself.) I used the micro plane on the sticks and it worked fine in the recipe....See MoreWhere was your money well spent? What could you have done without?
Comments (5)We just moved in this month. I removed the fake jennaire cooktop and micro/wall oven combo. Installed a nice gas range and 600 cfm ducted hood. A clean smelling home is important and I hate lingering food odors. We removed the Formica counters held together with scotch tape. Did oiled butcher block on the island where the cooktop had been. Did porcelain tile, which I had and loved in previous kitchen, for perimeter counters with new sink and faucet. We are keeping the oak cabinets oak, as they are high quality. I added new stainless pulls. I will be painting the trim and the doors to the room all in white. I will eventually paint the island cabinets a washed black/gray color. Goal is to be done for thanksgiving. So to me, a good gas stove, good hood, and functional counters and a deep sink are what I think is important to make a kitchen a pleasure to use....See Morenicole___
