Painting kitchen cabinets: BM Satin Impervo vs. BM Advance
Comments (17)Kenzie you have the perfect kitchen for hand-painting kitchen cabinets. You are going to be amazed at the improvement if you follow Christopher's directions. Just don't skip any steps and take your time :). You will see a little grain since your cabinets are oak, but that helps eliminate the look of brush marks also. I am one of those people who don't mind seeing the grain of oak - at least they look like real wood. I have one question for Christoper: How does the BM Impervo and Advance compare to SW Pro-Classic as far as ease of applying?? My reason for asking is that I have used the Pro-Classic on a vanity and was very impressed with the quality of the finished product - just would like to know for future projects....See MoreCabinet color: BM Mayonnaise and/or BM Linen White
Comments (10)If you are down to just two colors it would be a good idea to buy a sample (even if that means a quart) and paint a good size area of each in the space you plan to use it. I find it helpful when I paint an edge to touch. Check on the colors throughout the course of several days, hopefully with differing amounts of sun. Don't forget to see how they look at night too. I was between two different BM whites and this process made it clear that one read too yellow in my space for my taste. Who knows, maybe this is why so many shades of white are available? Either that or they just have a lot of great names they want to use! I find subtle differences hard to read well on a computer screen. Comments (11)Your cabinets are lovely, must you paint them? If you must, I agree with choosing something else first, such as the granite. If you're doing your backsplash too, perhaps go tile shopping. If you fall in love with something, it will help narrow down your paint choices. Easier to do it that way as paint choices are much larger than granite/ tile choices....See Morehelp me pick a bm trim to match conestoga frosty white cabinets
Comments (14)Pretty sure he is using semi gloss. The doors are done already and i don’t have it in me to redo them at this point. My walls will be matte. I looked at many many chips from my fan-deck. samplize, and finally painted foam boards. My trim color is for sure in the same family, warm off-white with a decent dose of grey. Its going to be a pretty close match. Im injured at the moment and bed bound and i cant go downstairs to look at the progress. No i dont know how my cabinet guy color matched. I assume it was by eye. If i was fully mobile id be haunting the bm store for sure! As it is my husband has been quite accommodating and gone there a lot for me. Ill post some pics later when my kids get home and i can get some from them. I picked SW escape gray for the walls. I have massive sliding doors on one wall with a southern exposure and that color really held up well in the warm florida light. I looked at october mist, too yellow and washed out in the light, and evergreen fog, too dark. Escape gray was kind of just right. Anyone have suggestions for the most matte paint for a high traffic bathroom? I did get a new great exhaust fan but my last paint had leaching issues and i want to avoid that....See Morecat_ky
