BM WB Satin Impervo Chalking
Comments (8)Kelli- There's almost TOO MUCH time between some of your coats, especially if they went on real light. Coat "A" may have been twice as heavy as coat "C", and so on. Coat "B" may have been completely cured b4 a re-coat. Unless the cured-out coat was scuff-sanded evenly, the coat applied after that won't hold as good as it could. >>> This wouldn't automatically cause any type of chalking though...only possible durability issues of the lightest coat. >>> A garage is a horrendously dirty place to be painting cabinets! It may not be visibly dusty, but shine a flashlight in the air at night, and it'll look like it's SNOWING... >>> The only way painting-in-garages works PROPERLY is to create a "Paint-booth" out of plastic hung from rafters...including a "ceiling"! A fan blowing OUT of this booth is required, as is a furnace-filter on another "inlet", to filter venting air. >>> Spray Filter-charger on this filter to hold dust better. >>> A "wet floor" needs to be used too. >>> Ideally, these coats would've been completed in a day or two, so the whole film-build could cure-out at the same rate, and fuse together better. Comments (5)Thank you for the responses! Hmm...what to do now? On Friday I told the contractor we wanted BM Satin Impervo. Over the weekend, I changed my mind after several people told me to definately go with semi-gloss or even gloss so I called him yesterday. He had ended up placing the order for the BM Satin Impervo after I gave him the go ahead on Friday but was able to cancel it yesterday because it had not been tinted yet. Is it possible to get just as good of a result from semi-glass vs the BM Satin Impervo because I have to call this guy back again and tell him to switch it again, he is going to think I am nuts! Really...looking at the end result, will I actually notice a difference between these two kinds of paints or not? Thank you!...See MoreCan the heat turn BM Satin Impervo glossy?
Comments (4)Thanks. The BM guys seemed to think the gloss would die down over time, possibly taking a week to cure. My painters ended up sanding all the doors & redoing them, as the initial paint job was sub-par anyway. All further painting will definitely be done indoors. It's just too hot & humid here (New Orleans) to risk painting outside....See MoreBM Satin Impervo 314 not available
