I'd look into OLED, made by LG...that's what we were looking at when we were talking about upgrading our audio/video stuff.

We have a Sony XBR OLED set. It’s really nice. I think I remember reading that LG makes the screens that Sony uses. CR rates Sony & LG as their top 2.

We purchased 65 inch LG OLED. Highly recommend. Very happy with this purchase.

We have two Samsung TVs and have not had any white spots in either of them. What I like about Samsung smart TVs is that you get Samsung streaming channels (and there are at least a hundred of them) for free. We watch a lot of those, especially in Cathedral City, where we do not have cable.

Roku Smart TV has gotten good reviews.

The main downside to owning an OLED is the risk of permanent burn-in. If you watch shows that do not fill the screen, this can be a real problem in a fairly short period of time. This happens when you watch a show that is 4:3 ratio, and if you zoom it to fill the screen, it is either cropped severely or else greatly distorted.

We have had multiple Samsung tvs and all have been superb. I won't have any other. We had a Vizio and another brand in the motorhome I would love to replace with Samsung.

We have two Samsung that are 8 yrs old, one Vizio that is older. I don't particularly like the Vizio or its sound quality, but it works and its the TV DH will turn to for sports when he's not in the living room or bedroom. It's in the closest room to the garage and his outside doings....my office ;0)

When it starts to have issues, I won't replace it with another Vizio - I will most likely pick up another Samsung.

Sony. Nothing else!

Mine is a Sony. It started getting weird lines on it but it turned out I needed a new cable box ( the big one in the basement) , not a new tv. It has lasted a long time.

My last few I've bought were all Sony. Really great TV's.

We also bought a new Sony back in Nov. and are happy with it. We had to return another cheaper brand which had bad color fading when viewing at angles and the screen was too glossy and reflected back lighting. The Sony (and all of them now) have varying degrees of back light reflection but the Sony screen has a slightly "satin" finish which helps diffuse back lighting.

We recently got a new LG, great TV.

I have several LG OLED. Beautiful picture. I added an LG sound bar to my 55" and we are very happy with that. I also have a wireless headset to go with it for programs that I have trouble hearing.

We are very happy with the LG we bought about a year ago. My cousin just bought a TV that was a cheap brand from BB and ended up returning it and getting an LG also and she loves it! We had a very old rear projection TV that was made by Pioneer, we almost died when it stopped working because we absolutely loved it...it lived to be 15 years old. The LG had big shoes to fill for us so that we like it a lot says a lot for LG!

I'd never heard of this brand but the reviews are excellent and price is great. Evidently it's a big company. TCL R625, it's a roku set, which we like, and the picture is superb.

I haven't had a problem with my Samsung at all. Its over 12 yrs old. I guess everything has it own lifespan. I just got a VIZIO at Christmas, its nice

I just bought a TCL Roku smart TV 32”. It’s got a great picture BUT Roku is in talks with Spectrum and it no longer has the Spectrum App automatically come up. Also, one of my sons is skeptical that Roku will keep updating their TVs beyond 5 years. Oh well, we will see.

After 2 years, the one Samsung 55"/smart 4k, all of a sudden had no picture just sound(we had 3). We looked up repairing it & the parts were $300...the NEW 55" TCL....yes, the one Lars mentioned by Roku, but ours is without the QLED, smart 4K. Walmart has it...in stock for $278/55". Just got the TCL a week ago. It has tons of free streaming channels loaded on it. We also have a JVC/55", it's 2 years old.

We had a pixel problem with our first Samsung which was still under warranty, which is what sounds like is your problem. Because ours was under warranty still we had it replaced with another one, but we upgraded. We have a 55" Curve 3D tv and have had no problems with it (knock on wood!) since we bought it about 6 or 7 years ago. Paid enough for it so I'm hoping it lasts another few years. I'll go back to Samsung. My last tv was a Hitachi which I was also very happy with but it weighed about 300 pounds, I kid you not. LOL Gotta love new technology and 2 pound tvs now. hahaha But all kidding aside: every brand has it's lemons. And it doesn't matter how much you spend.

I have a 48" RCA and it works great. It's not a Smart TV but it has 3 HDMI ports.

Here’s what happened to my highly rated (at the time) Samsung curved screen, after just a few years. Drove me nuts so it’s been relegated to the basement for the kids. Bought another Samsung for some reason and it’s been fine so far. I hate buying TV’s, I start to research and get all hung up on the technology and what I “need” but at the end of the day it’s just a freakin’ TV!

We have several Samsungs now and have had various Samsungs over the years with no issues. We have one Vizio which I won in a raffle and it is horrible. The picture and sound quality are poor and the darn thing keeps dropping the wifi signal. It is in our bedroom and we don't use it much so it is good enough I guess.

We are Sony people.

Here's a suggestion. Go to a store that has a variety of brands and stand back 20 ft from their display. Select the one that has the clearest picture to you.

^^^ To add to Raye's good advice, view them each at different angles from the sides, and view from the bottom upward to see if you can see the store's ceiling lights reflecting on the screen. Some are better than others for both considerations.

We went with a 55" TCL tv, because I have a Roku streaming stick on another tv and like it. Reviews were great. Ours was $298 at Walmart. TCL also has "up" models, but we just didn't want to spend that much.

Our Sony Bravia is pretty old, but holding up well.

I don't know how they sell Vizio with that awful sound system.

Just a suggestion, but if you look on the Best Buy website at tv's....where it lists all the specifications, it breaks it down of what it means and if its what you need for your tv watching needs. I found it very helpful. I was just browsing figuring I'll be needing a tv soon but really liked all the info the website listed.
