Air Fryer Question
Comments (30)shambo, the chicken was marinated in buttermilk then dipped in a mixture of flour, salt, pepper, a little paprika and garlic powder. I sprayed them with a mist of olive oil, I have a oil sprayer that I love, it has a "trigger" instead of those pump Misto types that work twice and then stop. Anyway, spray the chicken, put it into the preheated fryer, bake for about 12-14 minutes depending on the size of the pieces, flip them, spray the other side, cook until they test done. It's not quite as crispy and not quite as moist as real fried chicken but it's close and it's a lot healthier! Walnutcreek, here's my pork chop after nearly 35 minutes in the fryer. I wasn't a fan, so I just cut a piece off the end for my portion at supper, and I didn't finish it, but that's because the marinade was a bit too spicy for me. You can see that it wasn't particularly over cooked or too browned, although the fatty edge got nicely crisp and it temped out at just a little over the minimum 145F, in fact I'd have liked it a bit more done. It was a big chop, not thick, but big, it weighed about 13 ounces and had that large center bone, much like yours. I have to use a thermometer on everything, the fish is overdone, the pork is underdone and the cooking guide they gave me with the machine is so far off it's useless. Comments (14)@Fun2BHere - Thank you! How long does it take for your CMW to get to cooking temperature? I think that is my big question. The toaster oven and air fryer being small appliances are almost instantaneous, so you're just dealing with the cooking time not preheat time. Does the CMW preheat fast enough to be "convenient"? Last night it was just the kids and me, so I pulled out the air fryer and cooked some frozen hamburger patties, it was 14 minutes from the time I decided to cook them to eating. No idea how long they'd take in the oven, I've only cooked fresh homemade (much thicker) burgers in that and they take at least 25 minutes after the oven preheats which I'd be lucky to have happen in 14 minutes. @plllog true, you know I never have tried pizza in my Air Fryer, it would probably work fine. I'll try it next time! I keep it in the pantry so it needs pulled out to use, and its round, which I find awkward for things. It was a gift and quite nice but not what I would have chosen. I am trying to get the toaster oven off the counter, but it would also be nice to open space in my pantry too and if I decide the CMW won't work this is the best alternative suggestion. @User thank you for the suggestion! I'll look into those and check out their sizes. In my search I have been leaning towards models that have racks inside. I feel like being able to have food suspended probably helps cook it better....See MoreAir fryer or deep fryer?
Comments (9)"Having experimented with both, I've found the air fryer to be a game-changer. It offers that crispy finish with significantly less oil, making dishes a tad healthier. Plus, the cleanup is so much easier!" "While nothing can truly replicate the taste of deep-fried goodness, I've been pleasantly surprised by the results from my air fryer. It's a great balance between taste and health. Remember to preheat it for even better results!" "It really boils down to personal preference. Deep fryers give you that authentic, indulgent taste. But if you're looking for a healthier twist without compromising too much on the crunch, the air fryer is the way to go. I've made some delightful dishes with mine!"...See MoreDo you have an air fryer?
Comments (54)Murraysmom, I feel the same way about the book. I didn't expect the recipes to be quite so elaborate, but the book has lots of good information. Plus it's beautiful! My DIL made the Cheeseburger Slider Pockets last night. She's a vegetarian, but she said my son and grandson said they were great. She substituted ground turkey because that's what she had. I may try the sweet potato fries tonight. PS: I did try the sweet potato fries, and they were great! I gave up on the mandoline (that's my usual response to it), and cut them by hand. Tried to make them a uniform 1/4" but I'm sure the size varied a bit. Gave them only a slight spray of oil, which didn't get all the pieces, but that was okay. I cooked them a little longer in the second stage (400º) than the 10 minutes stated in the recipe. Really enjoyed them. I'll make the rest tomorrow....See Moreteeda
