Olfactory delights from the kitchen....

Last night I had some beans simmering back left burner. Front left, mirepoix, then wild mushrooms. Then some toasted spices to that with fresh thyme. A few new Meyer lemon flowers bloomed from the indoor kitchen tree. Heavenly odd combination. Mild and not overwhelming.

Three cheeses added to the mushrooms...

I opened my veg box delivery after cleaning out the crisper and sterilizing the sink...(I use two bowls in my sink for rinsing/cleaning) then onto counter cotton towels to dry.

Kitchen smelled like a July garden early damp am. Veg box does not use plastic bags.

DH worked five weeks straight before Thanksgiving. 7 days, no time off. Sat-Sunday I would have garlic, onion, celery ready...crank the stove burner when pup#2 alarmed me of his arrival.

"smells so good and so happy to be home!"

The zesting of a lemon/lime, cutting a ripe fruit...cantelope. Any fruit sliced.

The maillard reaction. Cast iron seared steak.

The last 15 minutes when lasagna is just about done.

I also made a smoked chicken stock last night but very heavy veg. All great scents and not confusing.

Covid lack of taste I've read about is so disturbing for a home cook.
