Bread baking is insane. The last 5 minutes. I prepped for Friday nigh pizza last night. Nothing like it when fresh out of the oven. A Tunisian stew tomorrow will be an odd one...

Seafood Sunday will be another...just make sure to take out the trash bin before bedtime, 🤢

I like the smell of toasting chilies - especially Ancho, Pasilla, and Guajillo, which I use in making chili sauce. Also the smell of chocolate Habanero chilies and chiles de arbol.

Oh, so agree. Once a year I make a mole and a roasted mixed dried chili mix. This might be the first year in many past I did not make a big batch of tamales. Such a memorable scent of the corn husks steaming.

Not to be knit-picky but I think you meant you sanitized or disinfected your sinks. It would be hard to pick up your sinks and put them into an autoclave.

I would agree that the worst thing in the world would be to lose the sense of taste or of smell. I love the morning rain under the patio canopy, the smell of just turned over garden dirt, the fragrance of blooming iris, and from trimming my pine and spruce trees. Then, of course is the smell when I take off the cover of my poolish and later the mouth watering fragrance of bread from the oven. And, now I have to make tamales as I also love the smell of the corn husks steaming.

Internet crazy, I came across a Tunisian dish a few days ago. I still head shake about what I was served my two weeks visit. Never had anything like served or ever or recipe since. Carthage, then IsleJeBarbe. Just about every meal had this odd side or porridge dish. Rich and bizarre.

When my DD was still in high school, one of her friends said to me, "I love coming to your house, Mrs Colleenoz. It always smells so good!" :-)

Bread, roast chicken, and lasagna are my favorites.

Brownies baking. Anything with garlic cooking. And yes of course bread baking. Mmmmmmm.

I know when a cake is done by the scent, if the oven exhales into the kitchen.

The best, for me, is oranges cooking.

Last night we had pesto I'd frozen when we had a glut of basil in the garden with pasta and chicken. The smell took us right back to sunny days.

My mother taught me that when you have been doing something other than planning dinner and it's 5:30...put a frying pan on with some olive oil onions peppers and a clove of garlic. Husband comes in the door and says "Oooh Smells Wonderful....what are we having?" just say "You'll see!"...while you think of something. That combination is the start of many wonderful meals. I have even had a neighbor come to my door and ask what are you cooking? Smells wonderful!

Also bread baking. Back when I was making and delivering to friends 5 loaves every day, and would come home from delivering and step into my kitchen still smelling of fresh bread....but I had given it all away.

Roasting some coffee beans just outside the kitchen door on the deck. First batch cooling off inside. Just enough of the good scent in the kitchen.

Cold smoking some salmon next for tomorrow. (sunny today, snow tomorrow). The fridge will smell nice every opening. For about 12 hours. One hour cold smoke is mild.

I'm with lindac...anything with onions, peppers and garlic!!!!!!!! Mmmmmmmm! We also test our olfactory senses with a walk through the neighborhood! We are in an historic area of Santa Rosa where Luther Burbank did his magic, and it seems that there are different blooms weekly, no matter what time of year it is! In fact Santa Rosa Junior College was planted so that there is some sort of rose blooming at all times of the year! Sniff Sniff!

Onions sautéing, bread baking, chicken roasting, and bacon frying. My poor mother would start just about each evening meal with onions sautéed in olive oil. It didn’t take long before I was in the kitchen scooping out spoonfuls of those yummy onions. She was lucky to have half left to use.

I love the smell of fresh bread, and onions browning in the pan, and right now my kitchen smells like fresh banana bread. Later it'll be lasagna. There are few cooking smells I don't like.

I love the smell of freshly cut hay, of the lilac bushes in the spring, the air right after it rains. A fresh ripe peach, right off the tree, bite it and the juice runs down your arm.

Not as excited about the barn or the chicken coop, LOL, but that makes those other wonderful things grow, so it's all part of it.

So many good smells! But the worst ones are the best ones when you still have to wait to dig in.... Bread cooling- gotta wait. Slow cooked stuff been smelling wonderful for hours, and still an hour till dinner. The smell of something from the oven when it has to rest a bit.
