Thanks for all the advice. I bought my now melted DW from Sears and it is only 4 months old, so they are going to replace it but I will have to stick with what they carry. I have to wait 'til Sat for the service tech, but I went to the store and my measured my current DW @ 34 1/2 and the Bosch which was right on 33 7/8. I am not sure how they got the GE in there, but the Bosch is definitely smaller. I was looking at the DW drawers, but I only have a choice between KA and Kenmore and I am not sure I would be happy with either of those. Would everyone please say a small prayer for my cabinetry and granite and we'll see what happens Saturday :) - Judy

You DID get a great deal on that. What you need to do is easy, altho at first you might see it as being overwelming. You can get chain and wire of different colors at any electrical supply store or HD/Lowes. When you go to put the new wire in, you should first try to tie the new wire onto the old wire, and then just pull the old wire out pulling the new wire in at the same time. This might work, you have a better chance if you tie the wires with a small connection and little tape. Once you take it apart and look at it, you'll see what I mean. Good luck!

Our shaker drawer bases have a solid slab for the top drawer. I just didn't like the look of that tiny middle, in our case, would have been rediculously tiny as we have wide stiles, or I guess they would have changed the dimensions of the drawer stiles for the top one, still I prefer the cleaner look of the slab in that case. For you, as it will function better with your 2" pulls, I would definitely consider keeping the top ones as slabs- will help you gain brownie points with the cabinet people too, if they don't have to replace those- always a good thing if it doesn't comprimise what you want!

Thanks so much for the comments weedmeister and Joseph Corlett. Hubby and I never thought about moving used cabinets that were taken from an older home and putting them into an even older cabin. The floor in our place was a major mess. We had it replaced but the floor is still out. I notice it when we we measuring it for counters the further I moved to the outside wall the lower it got. I guess that's how the doors became out. We didn't realize how complicated cabinets were, now we do! These Craiglist cabinets have been a lot of work for a diy project, but the final look is nice. We will try raising the fronts, it will mean raising all the pullouts up a little as you said. There are three drawers in each bank I guess we need to try splitting the difference on all the drawers? I gotten so much help from this sight. Thanks again!!
