Help! Tall people and short oven doors
Comments (28)I went with a 48” Bluestar platinum range top and stacked Miele ovens - a convection steam oven on top and a regular oven below. I really like the setup because the oven I use most frequently (the Miele convection steam oven) is at a very comfortable height. The bigger Miele oven isn’t as comfortable, but it is still higher than a typical oven below a range top would be. Also, if you do the wall oven(s) you have the option to choose the best oven for you needs, separate from the range top. We also have our ovens at the end of our run of cabinets and it doesn’t bother me at all. I do have freezer drawers down by the ovens, and I use those freezer drawers to store things that I might heat up quickly in the oven (like chicken nuggets and fish sticks and pizzas). I have a warming drawer between the ovens and the range top so it is easily accessed from either appliance....See MoreDishwasher too short - What is Normal Spacing?
Comments (10)IMHO, both options are just fine. In fact, over the years, in different kitchens I have seen both and unless you know what to look for you'd never notice. You can raise the bottom of the dishwasher. The downside is that the toekick won't align with adjacent cabinets. Sometimes, you can hide that difference by installing a panel to the front of the dishwasher that extends a little bit lower. But often that's impossible and will prevent the dishwasher door from opening fully, as the panel now hits the recessed toekick. You can also install a filler strip at the top of the dishwasher. It's just part of the cabinet and won't stand out at all. In our case, we raised the countertops by a full 2". A filler strip would have been fine, but instead we opted to install a pull-out cutting board. It looks very intentional and nobody would think it is out of place when they just look at the kitchen. But I have caught myself once or twice pulling out the cutting board instead of opening the dishwasher. I am sure I'll get used to that though. That's just an issue of getting used to a new kitchen....See MoreHelp! Bosch 800 series dishwasher power cord too short
Comments (6)Not next to the sink? Is the drain line going to reach? Problems occur if you put to much hose on the output of the drain pump. Anyhow, Bosch requires in the installation instructions that you use their cord and no extension cord. This pretty much ties your hands (not just warranty issues but the electrical code obliges you to follow their requirements). Move the receptacle closer....See Morecabinet help- short panels
Comments (18)You need to test this ( we cannot answer this from pictures ). Please take off onbe of the decorative ned panels that you have. Have someone hold it tight against the cabinet but pushed forward even with the door front. Try opening and closing the door. Then you will know. Some door styles with square edges will rub against a deeper piece. YOU need to make sure that won't happen. It has nothing to do with a hinge restrictor - that is the second thing you have to consider. Once you have determined that the door won't rub against the deeper panel, YOU will need to decide how functional those cabinets will be when you can only open the door to 87 degrees. If all is good, then get the new panels; otherwise leave it alone. Good luck!...See Morelynetta51
