Thanks for all your feedback. The couch is my only couch, subject to constant use, and visible from the kitchen and dining room in my open-concept, small, home. I really like the idea of a dark fabric couch. Love the sunbrella idea! Not as keen on the slipcovered look, although love it in other people's house. Leather is too masculine for me, although I understand how amazingly durable it is, and if I were slightly more practical, I would choose it. I'll try to find an Ethan Allen dealer locally and see their offerings. The price is right. Below are pictures of my current sofas, and the house. I think they've held up extremely well, (pattern hides dirt well) but the couches are quite uncomfortable with their low backs, so recovering is not really what I want to do (too bad though). I've also attached a picture of a sofa that I like from a looks, quality, and colour perspective. It is $2900 for the three seater (this is smaller than what I'd get). I'd get it in the navy. It doesn't come in sunbrella, unfortunately, so I'm going to look into a few other options before deciding. Thanks again for your input!

The first thing that strikes me is that your curtain rod is too short which is why you have to push the curtains to the side which kills the vibe in this room. Get longer rods and linen-type curtains that are fairly similar to the wall color which will give the room warmth without looking busy. Please make sure that your area rug is as large as possible because that will make this room look fabulous. Little bitty rugs do not. I would choose an Oriental rug in warm colors because it will hide little accidents, at least until you can address them. I would definitely get a sofa, so great for cuddling with your husband and kids. I would place it in front of the window for good lighting for reading but also because it gives you the best sight lines into other areas of your home. Instead of a coffee table consider a large ottoman with a lid so that you have plenty of storage space. Please don't buy a brown or black leather couch. They look dated and are so difficult to decorate around. Try beige or caramel, with two chairs in contrasting colors, perhaps a nice blue or green, colors that will be in the carpet hopefully. You can also use the carpet colors to choose pillows for your soft furniture. Find some nice pictures to put on the walls, a large green plant, a bookcase or two (books are a must in a room) and side tables for lamps. By now your room will look gorgeous and be pretty well furnished and, most important of all, will be comfortable and fun to be in.

Not having a TV is a good option, since it is in the middle of everything. I would put a couch on the long wall with two end tables (or one and a floor lamp). The two comfy chairs on either side to form a conversation area. You could do a square ottoman and then have two small chairs facing the couch - or not. Maybe a desk on the right side of the entry to the kitchen.

Alright everyone,,,,fessing up here about the Ann Arbor Sale this past Saturday. First and foremost I had a great time being there with my club (Wayne/Washtenaw) and also seeing the gang from the other group Town and Country!!!! Loved talking with customers, talking about violets, our two groups, and our upcoming Sale (in October). OH and if anyone should come, we have a club member, Becky, who gives a presentation at each sale on starting a leaf from scratch! How awesome is that?!? And a lady walked in and said she came last year and didn't know too much about growing a violet and she attended the presentation and learned so much that she just had to tell us!!!! So another club member took her to the room where the presentation was and had her tell Becky in front of the people attending kind of like a testamonial. She was so happy to tell Becky how successful she was, and I am sure Becky was happy to have that information!!!!! Congrats Becky!!!!!!!!!!! Ok,,,,,,now to give you the information you seem to want! No sense taking pix, I bought LEAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!! And here is what I bought: Broadway Star/Opt. So now you have it. No violet plants. Just an Episcia Pink Petite plant and Begonia Prismatocarpa plant. Maybe our next sale I will buy plants. Maybe. It's possible! I am happy with everything!!!!
