Please please please be okay. I hope she doesn't mind me writing this, but she's in Birmingham where they had a deadly tornado.

Glenda is also in Birmingham and this was her first night back home!

The tornado was in Fultondale, which is very north of Birmingham. I’m fairly certain both Allison and Glenda live in more central Birmingham suburbs.

The tornado was bad though, closing the interstate for a while for debris and power lines. Reports are one killed who was with his family in a basement.

Our son and family are close by in Mt Olive. Heard they are fine.

I"m having a Twilight Zone moment; I responded to two posts on my original Decorating Forum thread I found linked on another thread here in HE. But it's not showing up on the Decorating pages - must mean it's scrolled into cyberspace. Anyway, here is what I wrote: Sorry. No pictures left on Photobucket. DH is out of town with camera, but the panels are leaning on the DR wall at the moment anyway - TV went black (not even 3yo!) and we had to remove them to send TV to shop. The guys who made the sliding panels for me came to remove them. I found out they used very large drawer glides. They used 28" glides on the double panel side and 14" glide on the single panel slide. Before PETA comes after me, it's zinc. :D It's from a 19th century boucherie chevaline or horse butcher shop in France. I purchased from a San Francisco antique store's website (The Butler and the Chef). Here's a photo of it from their website: I first saw one in the back of Veranda or Southern Accents. Called the antique store in Atlanta - 6K. :( I hunted and hunted and hunted until I found one semi-affordable without any damage (they have holes much of the time). It is the most expensive accessory I have ever purchased. We live in a horse community, so it's fitting.....and I counted it as a Christmas/Anniversary present. I can justify any purchase. lol At its new home: Someone suggested I buy more to go over the other doors. lol Don't think so. Less is more sometimes. imo, it's balanced out by the things above FP on other end of room. If you really want one, 1st dibs usually has several on their website. The first one is not a bad price - less than I paid - but it has some damage. The 6500 one on the red horseshoe is actually the one I saw in the magazine. Hey! It's Sherwin Williams Moderate White - it's used throughout most of the house. It appears darker on my monitor than IRL, imo. I love that it's a warm white and how it changes with the natural light. Especially love it at night in the great room. No yellowing....but very hard to photograph. Hi nc cowgirl, Yes that is my kitchen and yikes allison!: I always post from AM when I want to show my kitchen because that's where the pictures are! I don't have photobucket or anything like that. The toekicks just disappear. I mean sure, if you specifically *LOOK* at them then yeah, they look black. But otherwise they just go away. It was one of my cleverer ideas. LOL! Thanks for the compliment! The knobs are great. You know this was one of my few potentially form over function decisions. I wanted them and was a little concerned that they'd be difficult to open with grubby hands etc. But they're not. You can open the lighter drawers with just a pinky and the heavier ones can be opened with two fingers just tucked in at the sides as cleanly as possible and pull. So, for us anyway, they are perfectly functional and no compromise there whatsoever.

So glad your son and family are fine, Outside. The tornado reminded me that it's their tornado season now, and mine is next. Need to inspect the cellar!

I'm going to keep bumping this topic. Allison has other property in the area and I think one or two of her kids & grandkids nearby.

So nobody needs to worry, I'll worry for everyone. I was born to do that. lol

Glad your family is okay, Outside. Oakley we are south of Bham, so all I saw was lighting flashes for hours and could hear the rain. I knew there was going to be a tornado somewhere. There is always a feeling in the air the day of. They always seem to come through at night. Thanks for checking on me.

I'm so relieved. Tornados can stay on the ground for along time and cover a lot of area. Now I'm scaring myself for our season coming up. But glad you're okay!!

I just heard about this on the radio and my automatic concern was for Glenda knowing that last night was her first night home. I hope she and everyone else are safe and sound.
