Has anyone installed a grey-brown engineered hardwood?
Comments (9)Engineered hardwood is still susceptible to damage due to moisture even though it doesn't expand and contract as much as a solid hardwood does. Being that the material is for a basement with a slab and an exterior door, we'd recommend a material like CORETec. It gives you the look of wood, comes in a variety of colors and plank sizes, and best of all; you don't have to worry about the material being damaged in one of those Michigan winters. For more info on flooring options in basements, check out this Blog : http://www.thecouturefloorcompany.com/basement-flooring.html There's also more info on CORETec here : http://www.thecouturefloorcompany.com/flooring-trends-of-2015.html The Couture Floor Company...See MoreDoes anyone has experience with hardwood floor/engineer wood by MIRAGE
Comments (9)If you are going to drop stuff on a wood floor and expect it not to dent, you should either get a harder wood, a textured wood that doesn't show dents as readily, or get something that's not wood. If you're getting a wood floor and expect it not to scratch, get something else. I've been doing Mirage for maybe 15 years and have no problems with the quality of their products. My major complaints would be that long ago they had quite a lot of short boards and their smooth products are so smooth that the look a bit fake and show dents and scratches more readily....See MoreHas anyone installed Shaw Floorte?
Comments (70)@Devin, our Guardian Oak has held up great. No scratches that I can see and that is with a dog, a cat, and two kids. We have felt on the bottom of all the furniture, but I did just check the bottom of the stairs where the cat and dog regularly chase each other with audible scratching as they rush around the corner. I couldn’t find anything. With the animals, we vacuum almost every day. It does show dust and dirt, but we’d rather see it and vacuum regularly than unknowingly walk through kid crumbs. :) Our only issue has been the install concerns I mentioned. We get some movement at the end joints still, as they had trouble going together in spots. Shaw suggested CA glue as the solution, but I haven’t been brave enough to try that yet....See MoreHas anyone found wide-plank, engineered wood flooring anywhere?
Comments (15)Excuse the mess, but here’s some pics. We got Verano Orzo from American Floor Covering Center in Los Angeles. We saved a ton of money going through them, about 7+ dollars a sqft off the big box store prices. Encourage you to buy sample boxes, as this one i liked the least in the store. Keep in mind, ours is grainier because Galleher’s distributing screwed up our lots and i didnt notice different lots (ie trees) were delivered until the boxes were already off the truck bed, and by then, it was too late....See MoreSJ McCarthy
