yes, i have had it, i too am one crispy critter. i do not want to hear the word "GC" again and i hope a big wind gust blows away my project folder that is now jammed with stuff... i am glad however to know that means i am doing it right. thankfully 6 months from construction start i now have running water and counters! painting needs to be finished and i am moving back into the kitchen this weekend sans backsplash and working finish electrical. i will work on that in the next few weeks. the prospect of not warming food in a microwave on a folding table and not eating off my lap in a dust covered livingroom is beyond exciting. as others have stated, it has taken about 2x as long and cost more than anticipated! the cats however might be bummed out. they have really perfected their technique of dashing across boxes, temp tables, microwave and other kitchen supplies, up the mantle, down the mantle, across the couch and chairs, up the stairs, down the stairs ... they like this obstacle course and might miss the stacks and stacks of stuff everywhere! i have learned a TON (first remodel). the original fantasy of completing a bathroom remodel next year (in a house with only 1 bathroom) has been put on hold due to need to replenish funds and recover sanity.

It might be worth starting a new post with MKFUSA in the subject line to see if anyone else has feedback; so far all my interactions with the company have been quite positive. Whenever I've asked a question they were quick to reply, and have checked in with me several times. I first discovered the company here in the Kitchen Forums - about 9 months ago or so. I tried to search again (also searched for Meramec Kitchens and Floors) but nothing came up in the database. (I'm thinking that posts disappear after a year or two?) As for ordering online, I just figure that we'll have to be extra careful about "measuring twice, cutting once" as they say.

remodelqueen - I soooo agree with you! My brother was ready to re-do my entire kitchen plan on what "he" wants in his kitchen remodel...claiming that he "knows" what look I am going for & HE has already had it & it would be better if I scrap it & do something completly different... huh? Budget? Oh, is that what we were supposed to do? ;-) Actually DH & I are quite stubborn when it comes to something we want. What usually ends up happening is we find a way to get it cheaper (did some labor ourselves, bought some scratch & dent items/clearance ~with a 4yr warranty...you get the idea) or we do without until we can find a way to get what we want. This board has been a GREAT resource. I returned a double oven that was sitting in my living room for a month after reading some reviews of loud & long fan times & other issues. I returned a sink for another (it was actually cheaper~gasp!) after seeing one on here I had never heard of before. I was very careful selecting our (prefab) granite after reading things here. I was thrilled when I actually found a couple with some movement in them! I never would have thought to tell the granite guy what to do without having seen what I like on this board. Yeah, the granite was a bit of an upgrade in pattern, but the overall price was only a couple $100 more...not a lot in the grand scheme of life. We may have gone overboard on the appliances. I will admit that. DH fell in love with a fridge (42" counter depth) that fits beautifully in the kitchen. Did we "need" it? Probably not. But he really loves it. I have NEVER seen him break out a rag & clean something so often before ;-) So, in some respects we were "good" with a budget...on others, well, we agreed to sacrifice other expeditures for a while to get what we really loved. "Forgotten" the budget? No... I just try not to think about it right now! LOL!

I had the exact same problem only with painted doors. I provided the finishing company with SW Origami White and the sample they sent back had a noticeable yellow cast to it. I asked about it and they said another client who specified Origami White had accepted that color. That should’ve been my first clue. Two more attempts (and same issue), then our builder slapped some Origami White on a trim board and said, “Here, tell them to match this.” I did and they did, perfectly. Then they asked why didn’t give them the sample to begin with. Um, because you asked for a color name? Turns out they weren’t using SW paint and were trying to match it using codes. It didn’t work. Matching to a sample of the actual paint did work though. Lesson learned.
