Comments (35)Extreme Tangerine has a nice ring to it. I don't see height mentioned in the NGA database. It certainly has plenty of teeth. I find that if you add, then edit, then edit, etc., you can post a string of items. Less disconnected than separate posts. Exotic Starfish seems to multiply well, though fans are not large, which is typical of many dips. I think it may also have a lower percentage of scapes to fans....See MoreBest Red Daylilies of 2021
Comments (31)This post didn't work yesterday. Trying again, hope I can read what I wrote yesterday.. Favorites: Debra: Diver Down, Kara Louise, Dancing Flamingo kid Maryl: Acquire the Fire. Mine performs the same as yours, wonderfully. Sherry: Red Volunteer. It is indeed good for a shady area. Kate: Christmas Greeting, showy noid. Celeste--Marietta Warrior, Scarlett Pansy, Kenora Wildfire. David: Fire on the Mt. Persian Ruby. Nancy, Mama Drams, Insider Trading. Brave World Bombay Silk, and excellent flower in every way. Cherry Treat, finally after many years had a good year. Worth the wait, what a color! Cherry Cheeks Christmas Day. Always well budded, colorfast. Catastrophe Waitress more below...See MoreBest Coral Daylilies of 2021
Comments (14)Debra: Look at the edge on Marlee Jane. That is a wonder. Any trouble opening for you?............I don't think I have anything now I consider coral. I had Coral Majority but it did not survive the Arctic Freeze this February. South Seas is one of my old favorites and it did survive. I think of it as orange, but that's me...........Brad: That seedling of yours out of Smoky Mountain Autumn is promising, and I always look forward to seeing SMA itself..............Celeste: Road to Hana is new to me and it looks lovely. I'll look it up. I grew Bittersweet Destiny 3 different times and always loved the color. Very unique. However I could not keep it going for more then a couple of years each time, so I finally gave up on it. Must not like pot culture because you sure get colder then we do..............Maryl...See MoreColor Changers, Spotted and Streaked Daylilies of 2021
Comments (10)I already posted my Tall Dark Stranger and Teddy Bears Picnic elsewhere so my contribution will be modest. I don't grow any spotted daylilies, either.....but weirdly enough, the old daylily 'Janice Brown' is always spotted here. I don't know why! I've not seen it pictured like that anywhere. Every bloom has some degree of tiny spots. This one didn't have as many as some: I may have posted this seedling before but I don't want to look back through all the posts....lol. It not only changes color (from purple, to gray, to brown tones) but it also often has spotting. The cross is Deepwater Horizon x Allie Katt Cloak and Dagger, looking purple Cloak and Dagger can range in color with the weather. It can be a deep, dark purple (almost black) to smoky purple to brown tones. Here it is smoky grey. Explosion in the Paint Factory, is not mine but I did take a photo of it in a garden: Pigment of Imagination Wacky Wednesday, also not mine but took a picture for our posts...See Morehoosier_nan (IN z5b/6a)
