where do you envision the most seating at eating times to occurr? island or big 48 round table in the alcove? some people are dedicated to meal times set up at a table... whereas some people find they end up using the island for a greater percent of meal time sessions.....maybe this has to unfold but fridge placement on shorter run vs. longer back wall would be a choice I'd make with this in mind. range and hood on the longer back wall w venting, hopefully. So lets say the island in a hypothetical sense becomes high use destination for casual meals / some dinners and everything else w food and social times .....and the open living room is right there. So 1. -fridge to shorter run ...microwave on shorter run either under counter or ledge of upper cabinet or ge spacesaver under upper cab. 2. range and hood on longer back wall w venting 3. sinks: larger single bowl cleanup and smaller 2nd sink. you have room still on short run for small sink and larger cleanup sink can go to back wall. People seem to like island free.....but small sink [ option] to place on island at pantry end of course. Big thing: I would discourage the double sink if you have the second sink, Get a single bowl deep sink and dishwasher w good efficiency next to it. you have a very open plan....the one thing I'd most prefer is the fridge on the side run because the unit is less on view and I never find fridges to be great in visual lines. more steps from table but seating is at island too, and then liv space is right there, so you have to calculate this out a bit.

Most eating will happen at the island along with homework and baking. on the long walk, with the proposed clean up sink and range, which would you place closer to the pantry? And would you put a window centered above the sink or should the window be on the longer counter. Thanks!

first thing re windows.....what wall cabinetry will you need. You always have to inventory your storage needs. this is important at this stage. You have pantry...you will have drawers...maybe a corner display hutch in dining room later on for entertainment dishes. do you have a view....what is the light coming in? is it desired by you? . Question then is how much glass totally and divided into how many window sections. then figure out placement w regards venting hood /sink placement/ chosen number of wall cabs. a little homework . wall storage : people are doing optional open shelves /must consider that I suppose. Wall cabs: always better Not to overload the walls ...generally: on the generous side in inches[ fewer cabs ] but make sure your stuff is housed. /double doors/ no center stile . symmetry not that critical.

Since you want a prep sink, the only layout I can see is prep sink on island, fridge and stove on back wall, cleanup sink on the side. The downside of that is the cleanup sink is far from the table.
If you want a second sink not for prep but for a beverage area, then small sink on the side counter along with microwave, snack drawer, coffee maker, etc. Then main sink on island.
