We are using granite counters in our bathroom remodel project, including an 8 x 3 vanity with back splash, so I can provide you with an approximate comparison. Based on our quote, after re-scaling the square footage to your vanity dimensions, I arrive at a total fabrication cost of $1,596. Roughly 25% ($399) of the total cost is for the actual material (marble in your case); the remaining $1,197 is template/fabrication/installation labor. That also includes a complex Ogee edge along the vanity's front. This is just a ballpark figure, since costs vary by region for both raw material and labor. @Shelley Graham Hi Shelley, it's been a long time since the original thread. On the off chance you see this, have you had any issues with the 4" in front of your sink? We also put in the larger Devonshire in our newly remodeled master bathroom. The stone fabricator left 4" in front of the sink. It feels like a bit of a reach to get to the faucet (we are using Devonshire single faucet.) I guess it also depends on your height? I'd love to hear your insights since you've lived with it for a while. Thanks much!

What an amazing job and a beautiful bathroom! I love it! I read your comment about the hard water and we have it too. I squeegee every day and still have spots on the marble. My sister just told me that her hair stylist has a shower head that has a water softener in it and he loves it. Next time I'm in Home Depot I'm getting one. It is supposed to be on the aisle where the water softeners are and not the shower heads.

This design site lists international building code and international plumbing code requirements which are supposed to be the minimum even in locales without local code enforcement, and then recommendations in addition to that. My locale is fairly lenient with code interpretation because of very old very small housing stock but as soon as you touch a bathroom, you have to meet the 15" and 4" requirements for sinks. ----------From the website---------------------------------------------- Recommendation: The distance from the centerline of the lavatory to the sidewall/tall obstacle should be at least 20”. Building Code Requirement: The minimum distance from the centerline of the lavatory to a wall is 15". (IPC 405.3.1) The minimum distance between a wall and the edge of a free standing or wall-hung lavatory is 4". (IRC R 307.2) Comments: A pedestal or wall mounted lavatory must meet both of the Building Code Requirements. The center of the lavatory must be at least 15" away from any side wall or tall obstacle, such as a tall cabinet, and the edge of the lavatory must be 4" from the wall or tall obstacle. There are practical reasons for the 4" requirement. Any closer and it would be very difficult to clean the lavatory. In a small bath remodel, careful attention needs to be paid to the size of lavatory sinks to ensure that minimum offset distances are met. When in doubt, go smaller. Almost all fixture manufactuters make lavatory sinks designed to fit very small spaces.
