How many inches is best between counter and window in kitchen?
Comments (25)aj33, I'm sorry for the delay getting back to you. We've been moving in. I don't think I have to bend any more than at my old sink. I think the key is to have the sink the right height for you. When you undermount a sink, it makes the bottom of it lower. I "test drove" many farm house sinks in the show rooms that were so deep that you would end up with an awful back ache at the end of a good wash up. I actually picked up my sink at the scratch and dent section of Ikea. I was considering undermounting their sink and wondered if it was really big enough. This one had the back lip broken off and was $25. I figured it was worth $25 to see if it would fit my cookie sheets, roasting pans and other large items. Then my builder pointed out that if I planned to undermount it, the broken bit on the back wouldn't matter. So, after I determined that it was big enough and deep enough without being too deep, we took a tile saw and sawed off the back....See MoreDistance between window and sink counter? Pictures, please!
Comments (16)I'm sure that you've made your decision already, but in case anyone else out there is still contemplating, we have the Ticor S405D and our window comes down to the counter with no bumpout. We don't have any issues with splashing- occasionally it happens if we're washing something very large, but it is certainly uncommon. Also with our granite countertops, we have no gaps that are in danger of water, should splashing occur. I suspect that having gaps is more of a function of poor workmanship than anything else. I researched the counterheight windows extensively before we put them in, and have seen many threads on them afterwards, and the post above is the only one I've ever seen that states that water or gaps are an issue....See MoreSink/faucet in standard 24 inch counter? Comments (14)I have the Performa Medium 1-3/4 sink. My sink is in my island but I just did some measurements. From the front edge of my counter to the back of my LadyLux3 faucet is 23-3/4 inches. The strip of granite in front of my sink is 3-1/2 inches wide. The sink interior depth is actually 17-1/2 inches according to my measurements and the website specs below. There is a 3/4 inch strip of granite in front of my faucet base. The base of my faucet has a diameter of 2-/12 inch. So all of that is to say that it fits a depth of 24 inches. It looks like your faucet has a 2 inch diameter base. You need to find out If you need clearance for your faucet handle so it would not hit the wall behind the sink (or turn it to the front as other have done). And you need to find out from your fabricator the minimum width needed for your granite in front of the sink. Don't forget that your 24 inch cabinet will have about a 25-1/2 inch countertop on it. Everything should fit. I would think that Blanco would note on the website if the sink needed an extra deep cabinet just as they post the required width of the cabinet for the sink p.s. I placed my faucet in line with the divider in the sink. The air switch is about 10 inches from the faucet. Comments (13)It is 3/4 inch / 2cm. I dont know what they were planning to put there, he called it a scribe. I assume some trim to cover that up. That picture is only at the sink, here is the rest of it around the kitchen.I feel like some things were rushed, although I was in no rush, to get done for closing. There is other questionable quality on some of the trim, tile, drywall and texture (especially in the master bath and bedroom) as well throughout the house....See Morethreeapples
