Comments (4)Along the same lines, I have a corner cupboard made by my g-g-grandfather around 1850, may be a little earlier, may be a little later. It doesn't need cleaning, but I worry about it drying out. It is mostly solid, but the raised panels on the lower doors have veneer in the center and a small piece has dropped/broken off. Don't want any more spots to do that. It may be the result of being hit by something-it happened years ago at my mother's house. Forgive the hijack, please Camlan. It seemed to go along with your question and maybe will give you more info, too, if anyone has ideas....See MoreBest Way To Clean Wood Floors
Comments (5)Hardwoodfloorsare one of the easiest flooring types to keepclean. The quickest and most effective way tocleanhardwoodfloorsis with a damp mop. Before mopping, make sure that you have removed all surface dust from the floor. This can be done with a soft broom or lightweight vacuum cleaner. Then, simply mop, rinse and repeat. It is important to remove grit and dirt from hardwoodfloors. Dirt and grit are the biggest enemies when it comes to scratching or scouring the floor finish....See MoreWhat's the best way to clean laminate wood flooring?
Comments (2)Laminates doe not like too much water. So you are down to slightly water-damp microfibre mop heads. A pH neutral floor cleaner can be used. You spray the MOP head (not the floor) and then push the mop around. You do not spray the floor. The original Windex formula (without ammonia) works wonders and evaporates very quickly so it doesn't leave too much "wet" on the laminate. Wet is DEATH to laminate. So anything that has a high ALCOHOL CONTENT will be a life saver for you and the floor. In fact, you can use Rubbing Alcohol directly on the nasty bits (be sure to have plenty of air circulation if you use more than a squirt or two) without damaging the product. Alcohol dries VERY quickly and does NOT leave a residue. 1 quart of Rubbing Alcohol can be purchased from any pharmacy = $1. Slightly water damp mop is your go-to wipe up option. Windex can be used for more thorough cleaning (never apply directly to the floor) and then alcohol can be used as a deep "spot" cleaner when necessary. This is as good as it gets with dogs that have plenty of drool. Tile would be slightly easier but not by much....See MoreWhat’s the best way to clean quartz
Comments (6)I use a cleaner I got on Amazon, it works great. Any quartz and stone cleaner should work. I have a new house and had horrible problems with the quartz streaking when we first moved in. It turns out they put some blue plastic wrap on it during construction to protect it, but it left a bit of glue on the countertops after they pulled it off. I wiped the countertops down with acetone, cleaned it really well after, and that fixed the problem. No streaks at all now. It looks great!...See MoreRTHawk
