Pretty room. I'd move the black bookcase to the opposite corner away from the window (where your baby chair is located). In its old place, comsider a floor plant, like a fiddle leaf fig - examples below, I don't t think this room needs two more short bookcases /furniture pieces. Why a floor plant? The added cool greenery will offer a beautiful contrast to your red warm-toned rug. I see you have one plant on the mantle, but it isn't enough to give the contrast that's needed.

Hi everyone, I’ll be moving into a new place and I have an odd shaped living room I could use some advice on! I was thinking a couch up against the wall across from the fireplace and two accent chairs (but comfy ones) in front of the windows with an accent table in between. Not sure if those accent chairs would look like they are floating off a rug though? The way the room is shaped if I were to get a rug and put it under the accent chairs and the couch it would be HUGE! I also am open to the idea of something besides accent chairs - maybe a love seat? It’s obvious the prior owners furniture is oversized. My only request is that the room is functional - I want if we have five guests over to not feel like they are sitting in a lawn chair to the left while I sit on the couch. Including the couch I was thinking of using here as well. Thanks so much everyone!!!

I think the sofa needs to face the fireplace, put. The tv above but the tv that looks like a picture until you turn it on. Not a fan of having your back to the fireplace. Then just get some art and coordinate with pillows and throw . Good Luck , show us after pictures 👍

Hi mytwo cents I love your choices of furniture and the cheetah print is an awesome statement print. I will absolutely keep in mind your chairs for the future. I’ve always loved the Bentwood rockers! That would be an awesome look. I will also be looking for a bar stool like you suggested! You are on par with what my tastes are. I’m not really particular with my furniture as far a it having used marks on it. I also can also cover up or refurnish. I do no like evrything looking new and polished. Loved a lived in look & vintage items. I really like your choice of the blue carpet & am looking at ordering it. I have a couple places for the cheetah print. Not sure what wall would look best (besides above the fireplace!) Please see attached pictures. I tried rearranging the furniture & table. Still have the small square table set aside. I can use it elsewhere. Do the chairs work better this way as you maybe thought? Olive green green chair (swivel recliner) corner: use the floor lamp you suggested? A larger floor lamp? Add an end table, basket, plant (I can remove the fern by the fireplace), magazine rack…? Krypton is the color of the chair (lighter, kind-of washed olive green with a hint of a brown undertone) Vanilla chair corner: added a couple things just to visually see something in that corner. Put a large print on the wall by the tv to see what to do with that wall. Should I do one print, gallery wall or something else? The cheetah print? Would I still use the nice smaller rectangular reading light you suggested? Use the floor lamp you suggested? A different end table? Think I need to space the chairs differently & have angular or straight facing the sofa? The patio door throws me off. Opens on the right side. I can get a frame for the tv (modern or vintage if I should?) if that would be something to add. The tv cords will be hidden behind the wall. Vanilla Sofa: Does the current ”marble” table work? Anything else to suggest? A differnet table lamp for summer? Something else altogether for summer/winter or just winter? In the winter, as I said, I have dark brown velvet curtains & I finally found the name & picture of my area rug (internet image is below). Not sure what to do with the any of the blank walls nor how to accessorize the tv corner. That side of the room is driving me crazy on how to decorate it with all the small walls and open spaces! Dining room is getting refurnished in the future. Divorce has left me with a hodgepodge of items to get rid of from a prior house. I hope you had a wonderful and fun weekend!
