What color brick/vinyl siding make best plant background?
Comments (5)I agree with both of the above that you would do best to choose the brick for the house color first, and not for the plants. Your new taupe isn't the same as the old taupe? Your word descriptions wonÂt help. For example, if that dark grey tone in the first description tends to be blue-toned, it might look awful with the taupe, which may have mauve tints or olive tints. Borrow or buy several bricks in each color you are considering. If you buy them, you can probably return them for a restocking fee. It's worth it. In short, do whatever you can to see large samples of siding or paint that matches siding, and bricks, on site. Maro...See MoreLooking for best vinyl flooring and color for dark basement
Comments (3)We put sheet vinyl in our basement several years ago. It's a wood look, from the furniture store here in town. I can't remember the brand, Congoleum, Mannington....It has a texture to it. The pattern doesn't repeat frequently enough to be able to pick it out easily. My husband has gotten some black shoe polish on it when polishing his duty boots, there's a couple other stains that I can't for the life of me figure out what they are/where they came from-one looks like rust and one like cement colored paint--but, I have to be searching to find them. We have vinyl upstairs in the kitchen and I *detest* it--but, it's been there since 2001 and we got a cheaper kind, just married and zero money. We are considering sheet vinyl for the whole main floor, bedrooms and all, and if we go that route instead of the vinyl click planks, we'll get a better quality, like what's in the basement. What I *want* is Super Core from weshipfloors.com but it would be more expensive--and trying to convince my husband to install rather than shell out more for someone else to do it is probably not in the cards....See MoreWhat colors/changes would make our house more pleasing?
Comments (36)Your house is very nice. I do agree that, since your garage door is so prominent, a door with more personality would be a nice addition. Then a change in color for the doors and trim. Instead of wanted to lighten the darker bricks, why not work with them. A dark color like SW Urbane Bronze would compliment and update. I know you can paint vinyl siding with the proper prep work. But research that option to see if it's a road you want to go down. And, did someone really say to replace the American flag with something more welcoming? When did our country's flag become unwelcoming?...See MoreTrying to pick a house color. Dark gray to look good next to the rock?
Comments (19)Thanks so much for all the great ideas Beth! I really do like the darker charcoal colors for the siding. I am hesitant to do the trim a light color. I feel like it needs to be darker trim, especially the A frame windows on the the side of the house to keep the woodsy feel. The light trim feels beachy to me. Maybe I will just paint the smaller inner trim on the windows the darker color and the rest of the trim the same color as the siding? I think that will maybe help those ugly windows on the right side of the front of the house blend in since they are so high. And paint the panel between them the siding color. I was thinking of adding natural wood trim over the large trim areas on the A frame windows to help them stand out. I love natural wood accents with the dark paint. And definitely the natural wood address sign. We don't even have any address numbers up right now. I was even thinking of doing some type of slatted natural wood wall to the right of the front door to balance out the tall masonry section but just can't invision it yet. We will probably have to replace the garage doors before too much longer and I will definitely replace them with natural wood doors....See Morehaydee u
