young indoor lemon tree needs help

Seb Curly

I received a lemon “tree” in May 2020, it was a tiny twig with 4 leaves. During the summer, it flourished, but as I live in Michigan I’ve taken it indoors. Older leaves are dying but new ones are slowly sprouting. I have a recommended grow light going for at least 8 hours a day and rotate the pot occasionally. Some branches now bear no leaves, and the newer leaves that are coming in are a yellower color than the leaves that sprouted over the summer. I sprinkle food grade diatomaceous earth to ward off pests and spray copper repellant every few weeks. I keep a humidifier nearby that runs near daily and I mist every morning. I can’t seem to acidify the soil enough but have just ordered some miracle grow (natural compost is too smelly indoors). I used recommended soil, sand, grass clippings, and hamster bedding to pot when I repotted it in late summer. Does anyone have any suggestions beyond fertilizer? I’m a novice and am unsure if I should prune the barren branches?
