Don't forget Rabbit Rabbit

If the first words out of your mouth on the first day of the month are "rabbit rabbit" you'll have good luck all month long. Any time after midnight is fine, and no need to say it to anyone.

Good luck everyone!

Especially important on the first day of the new year...so be sure to say:

Rabbit Rabbit! Happy New Year!!

And don't forget to bury the money!!

Gotta Remember! I also plan to wake back up just before midnight and go out and bang on some pots and pans to chase 2020 away!!!

Yeah, banging pots is supposed to be a thing this year.

The weather wasn't good on xmas eve, so I think I might put out my luminaries tonight...bring in the new year with light.

Yes, Annie Deighnaugh, I thought about that and I don't want to list all the things that have happened in the last two months, but death or dismemberment would have been the only things that could fit into the worse category. Well, I'm alive and have most of my pieces, so I guess I should consider that good luck?

I wanted to share how rabbit rabbit worked for me last month... DH brought the outdoor wreath down and we plugged it in to check it and a whole string was out. Rats! That was the pre-wired string it came with which means, chasing down each and every bulb would be nothing short of a nightmare on the thing. Would you believe I replaced the 2nd bulb and it lit? We then brought down our tree and plugged it in. Uh oh, a whole string on the tree was out. Would you believe I replaced the 1st bulb and it lit? I wanted to make a gold table runner for xmas and stopped in a fabric store, nosed around a bit and found this long bolt of gold fabric that had a nice sheen. That'd do nicely. Asked the gal how wide it was...120"!!! Whoa! No seam in the middle of my table runner...it just doesn't get better! But wait...I asked how much? She said $9.99/yard. Wow! So I got 3/4 of a yard ... didn't even have to cut it...just sew it together and the size was perfect. Wahoo! Then I went to sew it together and I had some gold thread on the bobbin, but not much. I was like, shoot...I know I don't have enough bobbin thread to make it.... I "always" run out of bobbin like 12" short of what I need. But to make the table runner, you have to sew the edges, but leave an opening so you can turn the thing inside out. Would you believe the bobbin ran out just where I wanted to leave the opening?!? Thank you rabbit rabbit!!

Oh, I wish I'd known about rhinoceros rhinoceros because I rarely remember to rabbit rabbit. Although I did this morning, and said it out loud before any other conversation. Creatures of habit, and the first words out of my mouth each morning since DH has retired are either 'Yes', or the time. As I'm getting up, the other creature in this house will inevitably ask, either 'will you turn on the coffee maker for me' and I say Yes, or, 'what time is it'. And I automatically answer including on the first day of the month. (after a lifetime of him bouncing out of bed a half hour before me)

I did not make it this time. The husband mumbled something to me this morning while I was sleeping. I mumbled, "What? " He said about a noise, did I hear it? I was sleeping, I told him. Then he asked "but what was that? " Then I said something colorful and forgot about the Rabbit Rabbit. Not covered. Probably cursed this month for cursing.

We won't have to bang on pots to create noise as the nuts all around our neighborhood will be setting off very loud an annoying fireworks until the wee hours.

I'm tempted to pick some fire works up myself. To set off around 6 am merely as back up for my neighbors efforts. ( just to make sure 2020 has passed) ;-)

Must remember to bury the money and then rabbit 🐰 rabbit 🐰. A lot to remember especially when we also have to toast with a glass of bubbles. We actually use Asti, I can't take champagne 🥂.

So much to remember. Bury the money, eat the lucky food, bang on pots and say rabbit rabbit. I do hope 2021 is better than this year. Who knows what it holds for us.

Happy New Year!

Bury the money today, while saying I'm burying my problems. After midnight say rabbit rabbit then Happy New Year. Eat lucky foods and bang clean pots. Dig up the money while saying I'm uncovering my fortunes. I think I've got it.

For further fun personally I'm also going to shake an empty wallet at the sky. :-). Lots of fun for me.

The rest of my family is bordering on ho hum about most holiday and traditional stuff so it's a party of one mostly. I'm fine to have fun on my family's behalf. :-)

Also happy to say goodbye 2020! So happy to be rolling in 2021! Hooray!

... Although we did get the vaccine made and vaccinations started in 2020 so maybe that is something. Not nearly enough but something...

I remembered rabbit rabbit at midnight, when the yahoos up the street started their fireworks. I had finally been sleeping, thanks. But I took the opportunity to say it several times, and again when I woke up this morning. Just for good measure.
