Comments (31)Waco, you are funny. Not a realtor, just someone who has bought and sold during different economic times. And real estate is local. My area, and many others, did not collapse during the financial crisis and inventory was quite low. Every town, county, state is different, so you can't just make blanket statements. Everyone should analyze their local market data and their personal financial situation and then make decision based on that, and not some national data summary or doom and gloom media coverage. The world isn't ending. I am sure those that died would trade places with someone that is just having real estate issues. Perspective. Comments (5)I used a Newton all through business school but was a PC guy otherwise. When I got my first Mac, in early 2000s, I switched completely to Apple for personal use although my industry runs on PC so I’ve always used PCs for work. I got pretty close to Apple and got my firm to start buying AAPL in the portfolios around 2002, at one point we were the fifth largest shareholder. We still are a 90% Apple family, the only PC in the house is DS’s Thinkpad for architecture school. Now that I have my own tiny biz I still have to use PCs for work but can spec whatever I want, no more using low end business PCs. I have a Thinkstation P330 Xeon workstation as my desktop and a Thinkpad P1 mobile workstation as my notebook. Next year I’m thinking of upgrading to a P920 dual Xeon workstation and giving DS my current workstation for his architecture studies. I’m enjoying getting back into the PC world but still prefer Macs for home....See MoreRe organizing your home during COVID-19.
Comments (1)We don't have kids or pets to deal with so our situation is easier. We haven't made many adaptations: I change towels and facecloths every day, (used to be twice a week), and I have a supply of cheap faceclothes in the kitchen for drying hands, wiping counters, etc. We are obviously washing hands and cleaning surfaces more often than usual but I haven't set up a disinfection station as such. I do now unpack groceries on the laundry counter (adjacent to but not in the kitchen), rinse the shopping bags there, and hang them outside on the line to dry in the sun. We don't have a freezer, and may have to think about finding a small one and squeezing it into our garage at some point, but where I live, supermarkets are still open and still delivering. We already have a small study, and a bedroom with exercise equipment, so those kinds of needs are already met as well. The guest bedroom is ready and waiting should one of us get sick. There's not much else we can do but wait it out and keep clear of oeople....See MoreFree Covid test kits
Comments (26)I got very sick in the middle of December and ended up in the hospital for three days after New Years. My home Covid tests were negative, but I am not convinced that I did not have the virus. My hospitalization resulted from diarhhea, dehydration, a bad fall and painful UTI. I tested negative by that time with the more rigorous test in the hospital but it was almost 3 weeks after my original illness. So I did order the free tests from the government's website. From what I understand, if you test positive the results are reliable. We have a trip planned the last 2 weeks of February for a stay in Savannah and are hoping to spend most of our activities outdoors there but will take the test kits with us. Fingers crossed for a healthy and fun visit. It's 24° on Cape Cod this morning....See Moreeld6161
