Flooring Design Dilemma Kitchens

We are in the process of designing the house with our builder. We have chosen below materials for our home. 1- wood look tile for flooring, 2-Salt white Kitchen cabinets, 3-Backsplash(diamond marbles with golden dots) , 4-quartz. we are planning to get a hood over cooktop and have backsplash go all the way up to the ceiling. we are planning to get golden hardware for cabinets. Do you think this will look good? Merry Christmas 🎄

I have a small kitchen too and I am looking for a 3" by 12" tile, but I am open to whatever works best. I like the brick-like proportions of longer tiles. But honestly, any tile is a vast improvement over the fake travertine 6" by 6" tiles installed on point (diagonally) that are on the backsplash now.

Could’t find your quartz or paint color (SW snowbound?) as I was curious how the whites worked with each other (and the floor, which is also important.). We repainted our cabinets, but color clashed with the floor and ended up painting the lowers black, to help offset. Just be sure the the whites’ undertones are all the same. May want to look into quartz behind stove before you decide to go that route. https://prudentreviews.com/quartz-backsplash-pros-cons/ If it were me, I’d wait to decide on the backsplash (if not using a slab) until the rest is completed. Bring home tiles to test (and more than a tile or two).

Most of the shaped (like Heath) or three dimensional tiles like the Saul Bass were really earlier, by the mid to late 1960s I think things were getting a little more plain/transitional than they were in the 1950s. In my area 2x2 porcelain was all over the place by 1965 66 Or they had mostly moved on to the short backsplash. Doing the single piece glass would give the the full backsplash while being more similar to the mostly painted backsplash with the short piece of counter so common in the 1960s. I just did a short backsplash with formica in a 1966 kitchen.

#4 is a white quartz, right? The arrow at a crown molding is a little confusing. I'd be a little hesitant that the backsplash might be both busy and dated when it seems you're going for a smooth all-white pallet.

I would wait until everything is in to cho0se the backsplash.

I think what you chose is pretty and the gold dots will coordinate with the gold hardware..

That said, I agree with Carrie. Your inspiration picture shows a very simple BS.

I think the quartz and the backsplash are not getting along that well, from what I can see on my screen. If you’re committed to that counter, I’d wait a minute on the backsplash selection.

I like your ideas, just not sure about that particular splash w/the countertop?

is it a solid white quartz? hard to see in the pic

If it's solid white, and you like the splash choice, then yes, it will be fine w/the gold hardware.

be aware too that your cabinet white seems to appear 'darker' than the white quartz and tile. Is that ok w/you?

You tile looks like a pillow diamond. It's going to resemble this backsplash.

found one in marble w/dark dots.

I found another option:

they do have dolomite diamonds w/diff dot colors

Builders only offer you a few options for tile, right?

you could always hold off on the backsplash until after you move in, and find something your really like from a lot more choices.

Suggest you keep the backsplash mostly smooth -- absent raised ornament or any particularly tiny grooves (so it is easily cleaned) -- something especially practical near the stove.

@Beth H. :Thats a great callout. We didn’t notice the color difference between backsplash and Cabinets. DW loved the backsplash and I liked the Salt cabinets. Looks like if we don’t get colors right, it would be an eye sore. If we see the pic at an angle we observed the difference. We’ll try to get a brighter white cabinets to match the backsplash. Thank you so much!

@suezbell DW loves the backsplash and she is okay with the upkeep that comes with it. Thanks for highlighting the maintenance aspect.

Your inspiration picture's floor has a warmer color than your tile - that could make a difference between a warm looking kitchen and a cooler one.

A white kitchen may look cold or lack warmth - your inspiration pic does not because of the floor. Hard to tell if the floor you picked will bring as much warmth as your inspo
