Wood wainscoting vs subway tile in master bath
Comments (22)As Enduring mentioned, I went with wainscoting in a paneled style because I wanted to mimic the paneling on my staircase downstairs and the door style and side paneling on the vanity I chose. It was very inexpensive and easy for my contractor to do. He basically used 1" x 4" pre-primed wood to make boxes and then trimmed the inner part with a 1.5" ovolo moulding with mitered edges. Not hard and very cheap. Tile would have been a fortune and I didn't think that bead board wouldn't have fit with my style of house....See MoreWhat kind of floor with White Glossy Subway Tiled shower/bath?
Comments (6)My wall tiles are glossy white and subway-patterned but square; I used this limestone-look large format tile (in an offset/brick/running bond pattern) by American Olean, and I'm very happy with it. (And I thought I didn't like "faux" stone tiles, previously!) Other elements in the room include a natural stone vanity top (quartzite, like marble, in a rich grey/white with warm undertones). This floor looks great, feels really nice underfoot (especially with the radiant floor heat, mmmmm!) and hides dirt/hairs REALLY well ;) I linked the tile below, but mine isn't the 12x12 shown, it's 12" x 18" Here is a link that might be useful: American Olean's Costa Rei floor tile in...See Morewall/cab. color for subway tile/marble/stained glass bath
Comments (14)Funny, I had posted my (final???) color choices but a bunch of the posts seem to have disappeared. The walls, window/door trim and upper cabs will be BM Revere Pewter (might do walls a bit lighter). Base cabs Gray pinstripe or one color deeper on that strip, which is a blue-gray and similar ot a Farrow & Ball color Down PIpe that I read was used in woodwork in old English homes. Ceiling will be a Silver Sage type color, there are a few I like. Grout is a med/dark gray. Oceanna, I wouldn't post comments like that if I were you. That's really a sick, thing to say. I will refrain from saying what I really feel about your post. Not all grays are "suicidal or depressing" and neither are my kids. I don't know what experiences you may have had in your past to find that comment appropriate, but it isn't....See More1990's bath redo! All this ugly tile will go? Marble? Subway tile..?
Comments (3)This post is a little late to the game, have you already made a decision? While I love subway tile, that would be a lot in that space. If you love that look I would break it up a bit with different color/texture trim, and a different shower floor tile. Or just use subway on the shower walls. I personally would go with larger tile, for a sleeker look, but that’s my own style. I find it visually more calming. The floor tile is a definite replace. It looks just like the tile in the kitchen of the house we just bought, LOL. Yes, in a perfect world that tub could be raised, but if you don’t have that on your priority list make the changes you want to make. Depending upon your budget, you could just start with new paint on the walls and a new floor tile. That could make a big difference. I’d like to see your updates!...See MoreSunil R
