What kind of floor with White Glossy Subway Tiled shower/bath?

Hello everybody! I'm doing a total remodel of a small bathroom. I'm looking at espresso vanities, brushed nickel fixtures, and white glossy subway tile accented with a strip of brownish/greenish glass tile - very similar to this example I found at houzz.

So now that all that is figured out, I have no idea what to do for the floor. I looked at a tile store, but the number of choices was pretty overwhelming! Ideas I've had include some sort of cork flooring or a white octagon tile with some color of dot (something like one of these). Or maybe I should just do something more subtle?

What do you all think? Pictures and any advice would be super helpful!!

We used Light Noche travertine for the floor in our guest bathroom (espresso stained walnut vanity):

We are doing a marble mosaic basketweave for the shower floor. I don't have pictures yet because tht tile guy is just starting.

Did you mean the bathroom floor or the shower floor? Either way, here is what we are using for our floor to mimic a slate look...

I have similar concerns about too much white in my bathroom re-do. Currently, the bathroom is 50s pink n gray tile, so a lack of color will be a relief! I found a ceramic tile at Lowe's that looks like wood parquet. It matches the color of the hardwood in the hall by the bathroom. I am trying to copy an inspiration room on the Restoration Hardware website: white walls, dark stained vanity/mirror/wood floor. If you want to find the picture on the rh website, you have to look under the white bathroom rugs on the website. The tiles we purchased were a special order from Lowes and are about $4/sq. ft. Will keep up and see how your project turns out!

glsreads - did you get the liner sample or a 3x6 sample? (I got both) - are you saying the liner is too thin (think it's less than 1")? (Tip: You might want to start a new thread for liner questions - people may not see your question here under the heading of "white subway") The issue I see w/ cutting a glazed ceramic tile is I'm not sure what the edges will look like when they are white next to the green glaze, but I'm no expert there. I think you want to find an actual liner so that the edges are a bit glazed? Maybe just ask Luxe Tile what the manufacturer is of the "teal" and see if it comes in a 2 x 6 (it might even be AO or something easy to find - they sent me some floor samples that I think are Dal but they don't state the names on their site). Also, have you visited Tile Shop (1701 South 108th Street, Milwaulkee) - I love their imperial glossy subway & trim! Maybe they have something in the way of liners...? Back to your grout question - I'm intersted in anyone else's thoughts here, too! (Glsreads - Check out appletini's page and specs above. She used laticrete spectralockÂsilver shadow).

Wow,, am I glad I checked this thread. First-- Metro is annother tile company. I'm pretty sure instead of having lugs on the sides of the tiles like Dal's, it has a raised ridge that runs the whole perimeter of the tile, but does the exact same thing. As for HD, they have the very same Daltile, but they also have U.S. Ceramics, as well. Also not a bad tile. Secondly, as for matte vs brite glaze, there's no difference in maintanence. The only difference, pretty much is your taste. Third, the only problem I forsee with respect to hanging the Durock is that any time I've hung cement board where plaster was, the studs never seem to be in good alignment. But that's not a big deal. They can either be hand planed or shimmed, as needed. Other than that, it's a piece of cake. Lastly, DO NNOT take those HD classes. I sat in on one and tore the instructor to bits, to the point that he was ready to have me removed from the store. Those classes are a joke. I believe the difference in color is too great with the white and brown. Why? 3 reasons 1. The products that are cemented to the building you will not redo anytime soon. Messy , dirty, expensive and just not worth the trouble 2. When you add a product to the building structure. Windows , floors they must last a long time. Durability, wear and tear, and STYLE. All equal a story of when the home was designed. The look over a period of time 10 years + and the home will become "out of date" Needs a face lift . 3. The homes we admire, the Museums, Churches, Libraries, Opera House have one common thread. At a glance they are timeless. Built in 1940, 1990 etc The crystal clear item is not seen For this reason I would not go "trendy". Generally our first choice is the right one. Simple and elegant How do you change this ad time moves on. Color Bedroom a change of bedspread. Bathroom towels become a dark navy or deep forest green. Yellow for spring Paint a wall blue, hang a piece of art The change is simple and your money well spent for resale Take a moment to do another board Remove the brown and replace with a neutral. Try an Odegard runner - There are so many options Enjoy

I was talking about the bathroom floor, not the shower - sorry for the confusion.

My wall tiles are glossy white and subway-patterned but square; I used this limestone-look large format tile (in an offset/brick/running bond pattern) by American Olean, and I'm very happy with it. (And I thought I didn't like "faux" stone tiles, previously!) Other elements in the room include a natural stone vanity top (quartzite, like marble, in a rich grey/white with warm undertones). This floor looks great, feels really nice underfoot (especially with the radiant floor heat, mmmmm!) and hides dirt/hairs REALLY well ;)

our bathroom will be similar to the housz pic

we're using a black slate tile that is special order from Home depot.

our accent strip is a blueish green with some dark blue and white marble. hard to explain but it was a special order at HD as well.

We're putting in Daltile Blanc Linen tile in our master that has oversized glossy white subways in the shower. The floor tile isn't installed yet though.

In our other two baths, we have white tubs and octagon-dot tile on the floors. The guest bath has dove grey dots and walls (and is almost done), and the kids bath has black dots and vanity (still needs to be grouted). Choosing the octagon-dot tile was totally an impulse decision for us, but we really love how it turned out.
