Please help with mirror & light placement over asymetrical vanity
Comments (11)Thanks for your opinions! Andrea... I don't think I'l have enough space to have side sconces and a vanity light. It's an alcove that is just 37" wide so it might get a little crowded. Would you center the vanity light over the 30" mirror or over the sink? Les... That might be an interesting way to disguise the angle, I like it! Nanny... What a great mirror! I'd like to use my vanity light if possible though because it can't be returned. (Although, I do own an extra sconce already so if I could get them to exchange the vanity light for a sconce...!) Thanks, everyone! Any other opinions? I have a decorator/friend coming this week to look at some other things in my house so I'll probably see what she thinks too....See MoreHelp dating huge Victorian dresser, please?
Comments (9)The drawer joins are very time-limited - also called the "Knapp joint" for the inventor of the machine that made them. I've seen it variously dated as 1870-1910 to as tight a range as 1880-1900 ... the machines may have been hard to maintain or had some technical reason (perhaps needing thick drawer fronts and using too much wood?) for falling out of use so quickly. I think they took an existing design for an Eastlake influenced piece and tarted it up with a panel in the new Aesthetic style. There are a lot of style hybrids because a manufacturer wouldn't want to abandon the old product line completely if they could just tack on something new....See MorePlease help to pair nightstands and dresser with the bed.
Comments (94)I have wanted a combo of woods and this all works. Thanks for the wall color too. Only other thought is to select chair if you do a chair that isn’t too dark. They tend to catch every piece of lint and dust flying around. I would still lean with blues. Bring some Gray in from bathroom for rug. I also assume you can personalize it with some of your dad’s fav things or pictures. You could do a grouping of pictures around TV on wall. Some version of this. From 4 to more pictures. Ones that make your Dad happy every time he sees them....See MorePlease help me coordinate nightstands and dresser for this bed.
Comments (7)Hi Elisabeth. The walls in your new apt are not a stark white. It looks like they might have a touch of grey. I also see that you are near the water with great views, if I am seeing correctly. I put together some beginning thoughts on a 3d rendering of what you might consider, based on your input so far. I would use whites, blues and taupes. This, of course could be tweaked to go any way. I would not recommend a mirror nightstand, but a muted mirror would be fine....See Moregustaviatex
