the window was made by la cantina and does have a screen option. we havent done it yet and really havent needed it so far. nice to have the unobstructed view. the island cabinets are a black brown color the hardware is restoration hardware lugarno pulls. I tried to order them online but the shipping was crazy and they didnt have enough. i called my local store, ordered them, they honored a 20% off coupon and gave me free shipping. It was the rest of the counters that I wasn't sure about. They are not right next to the island. The closest counter in Nordic or AB (whatever we decide) is about 42" away from the island. Does that help? I am really impaired when it comes to posting links or pictures here so I don't know if that helps you visualize or not. But that was my question, what kind of a finish to get with the Black Mosaic to compliment each other. I would love a picture, if that's not too much. I will be out of town for a week. mustbnuts, the cooktop is actually a Jenn-Air. It is from the new Pro-series line. I chose it for a number of reasons 1. I thought is was gorgeous!!! 2. It has a downdraft (I have always been happy with downdraft as it's all I've ever had) elimnating the need for a hood or worrying about one of those periscope draft thingies breaking!! 3. It is a lot less expensive than most of the other pro-series type cooktops. BY THEY WAY, IF ANYONE IS LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO ORDER APPLIANCES......I ordered my appliances from a place called Bridgeville Appliances in Pittsburgh (I am in Northern VA, but found them online) after a ton of research on this company, I went with them and they were awesome!! I saved about $1000 by using them!! They are family owned and have been in business for over 40 years. Jeannie, why can't you post pictures??? Thats the fun part!! Although, I almost threw my camera through the computer screen while trying to figure out how to post a picture......so frustrating!! Vic- I am SO GLAD that you said the kitchen was "personally yours" as that is exactly what I was going for. Love all your choices. My only suggestion would be to do a different backsplash behind the range because the grooves design will trap the splatters from the cooktop. A stainless steel panel backsplash behind the cooktop which meets the hood will add sparkle and shine, is practical for that area, and is very reasonably-priced. There are also stainless steel backsplashes for behind the range that come in patterns - quilted (for that diner look), tile pattern, all sorts of looks - just google "stainless steel backsplash". Or just do the standard stainless steel panel for simplicity and a clean look. You could also use your soapstone as a panel behind the cooktop. That will look sharp, but add $$$.
