Sad to hear. We have been playing some old Country Family Reunion DVDs this past week nights. He was on several of them. Always enjoyed his singing. A class act always.

Not only talented but a truly good man. He will be missed.

So sad. Reminds me of my parents. Grew up listening to him.

I remember opening my mouth to a neighbor when I was a child. He was very bigoted and was glowing because he had been able to get tickets to one of Charley Pride's concerts. He went to prove me wrong. He never mentioned the concert but continued to expand his collection of not only Charley Pride albums but other black artists and stopped being so openly bigoted. This was before black artists regularly appeared on tv so many people had no idea what their favorite artist looked like.

I was so sorry to hear this. It was just a few months ago where he performed at the CMA s and got a lifetime achievement award. I was marveling at how good he looked and sounded. 86 years young.

when I read that he'd died, my first thought was 'I just saw him on TV!' - of course that was on a CFR show. they're reruns. often watching it I have to remind myself that the shows are old and many on it have died. So many oldies but goodies gone. I've always liked Charlie Pride and his songs.

Was fortunate to see him in concert back in the 80's. He was wonderful! Did you know he was a pro baseball player before he became a Country music singer?

RIP Mr. Pride.

I was so saddened when I saw the news of his demise yesterday. However, I did not know it was from COVID-19 until reading this. D....d COVID. It is killing/maiming too many people.

Sad to learn of this. A beautiful soul and talent.

That makes me so sad. He was such a wonderful singer. He must have been a great person,too, because I never heard even a hint of anything bad about him, or that anyone in the music industry didn't like him.

Rest in peace, Mr. Pride. You've done well.

His "Kiss An Angel Good Morning" was one of my all time favorites. He had a voice of pure gold and was a multi talented person. Rest in peace.

The CMA's have denied that their awards show was the cause of his infection. But he had to travel there, and travel home and even if it occurred during the travel as opposed to while surrounded by hundreds of unmasked individuals in an indoor space, I still think they have culpability for his sickness and death.

It easily could have been done in a COVID safe, online only manner, but they felt they had to get together in one big room.

Saw CMA denials and comments about testing, they missed a very important point - INCUBATION time, between exposure & positive test.
