Help! Has anyone used these paint colors?!?
Comments (7)I don't know those colors but wanted to say that it seems like an awful lot of color changes throughout your home. Every room doesn't have to be a different color. It's possible you might lose a nice calm flow, feeling choppy, depending how much difference there is. The other thing is that painters charge extra for paint color changes. The one I have seen is Wool Skein. The house had good natural light. It would seem like a dark color for all of your ceilings. It was very pretty on the walls, appearing a a golden tannish neutral, not real light but not dark either. When I've looked at its swatch in the past I was surprised how different it looked there, not so tan. Comments (2)I actually bought the paint from a Benjamin Moore dealer. They have the recipe for Simply White, but has been unable to replicate it in the lacquer-based paint (M.L. Campbell brand). They told me that they have to color-match it by eye, not by recipe because one is latex paint and the other is lacquer paint. Anyone out there that has gone through this? Did I just get someone who is inexperienced at this or is it generally difficult to try to color match these paints? Thanks....See MoreBrown Painted Kitchen Island? Has anyone done this?
Comments (4)We did a facelift and painted the island medium brown and I've been very happy with it. Picks up the colors in the marble -- irl it's a greenish-dark brown that looks almost gray at times of the day and blends really well with stainless if that's an issue. It's Farrow & Ball Dauphin in Eggshell finish. Our floors are white oak and ambered over time, which gives them a reddish cast. That goes well with the Dauphin. With White Dove I'd take a look at Ben Moore Bittersweet Chocolate. That's a deep brown that was used to redo an entire kitchen on her several years back. Forget the poster's name -- perhaps someone remembers. It was a kitchen outside Chicago and she went with an aqua backsplash. BC looks terrific on cabinets. I actually prefer painted to the wood on many cabinets I see but, of course, it always personal preference and depends on the cabinets. I like painted furniture, too. Comments (9)Soapstone gets darker with age so even if they look contrasting in your samples, over time they will be similar but not quite the same (if you oil they will both appear dark). I liked my sample of Fantasia but it was more green than others. The Barrocca slabs I liked were a truer gray. In the end we went for stormy black because it is so much harder. I love the counters. It is almost a year now and no nicks or chips, just scratches that either dissappear or I don't notice them. I couldn't live with marble. Every day I juice lemons, grate tumeric and make a mess with the espresso machine. The etching I could handle perhaps but not staining. Soapstone is just perfect for me. we have grey cabinets and one of my do-over would be a White Island. I love 2 toned kitchens. Espresso will be too dark with SS counters, in my opinion....See Morelucky998877
