Awww, bummer you got some not nice produce. Kind of funny, when I tried dinner service kits, it was always the green beans and little cubes that were the most icky most frequently. Wonder why.

Anywho, glad and not surprised their customer service was prompt and good. I've only had a couple problems, and they were the same for me.

Maybe I'll get a celery root in my box tomorrow, that would be a treat. I do surprise boxes :)

I am very confused - why did they cut one of my mini cukes in half??? Obviously cut, and not broken. The other two are whole.

Otherwise a good shipment yesterday.

Oh, last shipment I finally got a misfit-looking veggie. My green bell pepper was folded in on itself and looked quite humorous, and I was fine eating it.

My green beans look fine. Not a lot of them, but they're going to be fine eatin'.

Why would they cut a cuke? Or even put it in the box. 🙄. And why do they cut the nice tasty top green leaves off the celery? A couple times they were left on. I use them like parsley.

Once I did get a fistful of just separate celery stalks. I like the tender core/heart with the leaves for certain things. They were pretty beat up so got a discount.

Did I mention this before?..greens I cut/trim the greens tips and stand up in fresh water while the leaves dry after washing.

Sleevendog, I have one of those special "green boxes" that I use to put lettuce in, and it works pretty well for 3 or 4 days. I'm doing SOMETHING with that curly endive tonight, maybe put it in a frittata.

My celery is perfectly fine, but they did cut all the leaves off the top. Like you, I don't quite understand that. Some of the limes will go into a marinade and probably a shortbread type cookie for Christmas. I'll probably roast the radishes. I don't like roasted brussels sprouts, but I still have some fresh cranberries, maybe something with those, I like that combination a lot.

I did eat one of those big "Roslynn" apples. It was crisp and very sweet, but pretty mild. Definitely for eating raw, not so much for cooking and baking

The cuumbers were so mushy that when I picked one up my finger sank right into one of the soft spots, definitely not "saveable". The chickens got those, along with the slimy green beans. I got a 20% discount, I'm hoping maybe I can get some more celery root, I already used the one I got last night, mashed with a couple of my homegrown red potatoes. Hopefully I can get some fennel too, that's really expensive here and I love it.

Just got off the phone with one of my sisters. Both a bit kooky but this one I get along with, 😂. Ear sweaty long conversation. She canceled her boxes after three. Now she misses it. 🙄. I do not select any fruits having so much from my trees and in the freezer/storage. (I did select a mango being so good in the past). Can't grow that one. I've become a bit savvy in selection with high value like lemons over limes and greens over apples/pears. They have been tossing in thing like plums and mushrooms somehow I did not ask for...not sure why.

Scratch cooking suits me. Freezer prepped sits in limbo waiting. Stocks/fruits/veg. A bit of a kitchen dance. Using fresh and the freezer.

Those beans look like carp. I grow them, love them fresh from the garden raw. Even fresh organic, a speckled brown is fine, but old is old. The packers should get better trained and I would like to know they compost the carp.

That would be a nice thing to do in the winter. I got all excited because Facebook kept telling me Misfits is now available in Idaho. Apparently not in my end of Idaho though....sighhhh...

Katie, that's exactly why I signed up, it's winter here in Michigan. Finally going to get down in the teens next week, I'm going to have to go cut the rest of my greens in the hoop house, I think, they won't survive those temps. I think Misfits might be a good 'fill in" as things get more expensive in the winter and are shipped from further away.

Sleevendog, the beans were terrible. I don't know why I ordered them anyway, I have over 100 quarts that I canned. Fresh is just nicer, sometimes, you know? I did get limes instead of lemons because I just don't use many lemons. Mother is allergic and I never know exactly what she might eat, so I avoid lemon for the most part. apples are a constant here, Elery eats a couple of them every day, so they are always an option.
