I was the assistant manager for a seafood eatery. I worked 12 hour shifts on shift pay, 5 days a week. I'm wearing a polyester navy-blue sailor suit.

Im heading to either Mickeys' or some other club to meet friends and dance. Im wearing "stretch pants" and a top.

I'm boring. I'm wearing my pj's to watch TV.

To a movie or a play with my girlfriends, probably in corduroy pants and a Qiana nylon top (it was the '70s). I've never been to a club...when I was 18 you couldn't get into the hot spots like Studio 54 or Nell's unless you were very glam, which I decidedly was not!

It was 1956, wore a pencil skirt, button down sweater with a white collar attached. Shoes would have been black ballerina shoes, or penny loafers. My now hubs, picked me up in his 1955 Chevy. First, we went to the “grill”, ate hamburgers, fries, and a cherry coke. Everyone had loud mufflers on their cars, so when we left grill , would drive up road, come back down let off the gas so mufflers would make loud popping noise as we passed grill. Every car that left would do the same. Then on to movies. At 10 sharp I was back home. This describes most of our dates. Only parties ever were church parties. This is funny part, after our date if we pulled into driveway and sat for a few minutes, my parents would start cutting the porch light on and off ,for me to come on inside. Wow,have times changed!!! I have been married to my date for 61 years now. Times were good in the 50’s.

I am wearing a nice casual dress. My boyfriend who became my husband is picking me up to go to the movies at the drive-in. We were married for 51 years when he passed away in 2017.

I'm at work and wearing whatever was my work attire back then :-) I worked my way through college on either the swing or graveyard shift at a data processing center.

Managed to squeeze a reasonable social life in there somewhere. Musta been mostly the weekends........

I think I was working at an onion dehydration factory then. Graveyard shift, so wearing jeans, tshirt, either cloth or rubber gloves and a paper mask if outside to keep to the dust out. Which I didn't always do, which is probably why my lungs are in the shape they're in.

18? I guess it depends if it iss' the end of high school 18 or the beginning of college 18. Living with my parents at 18? Not much doing. Maybe movie with a friend. Hanging at home. 18 at college? Friday nights were pep rallies and keg parties with my friends. What was I wearing? Jeans, penny loafers, cute top, hair curled.

Bell bottoms, a silky colorful button down blouse and a leather or suede vest. I'm either at the Fillmore West or Winterland in San Francisco or on the back of a motorcycle. I could also be at a party with friends and those parties could end up moving from place to place on a whim. We might end up at the beach, someone's ranch whatever. Slower Friday nights I would be in a local dive bar drinking beer and hanging our with my friends. 1969 was an "interesting" year of many changes.

Bookwoman, when you went to a play in NYC, you were doing what I wished I was doing when I was 18.

Bell bottoms, one of those body hugging one piece shirts, fringed suede vest, suede fringed jacket, suede fringed purse, brown moccasins, love beads and an headband. I still have the vest, jacket and purse. My daughter wears them sometimes for Halloween. Probably going out with then boyfriend (now hubby) to a friends house and party.

i was teaching my second year in a rural school after taking a one-year teacher training course. I had graduated from high school at 15. Might have had a date with the young man who became my second husband over 60 years later.

High waist dark green corderoy pants and a co ordinating cotton button down shirt with white cuffs and collar. I met up with some girl freinds in the lobby of the dorm and we walked a few blocks over to a Frat party.

In college, one of two options... either hanging out in a dorm room with some other girls, or possibly headed up to cross the border into Michigan where it was still legal to drink at age 18. Where we would jam about 8 or 9 of us into a small car... and since I was tall, I was always crushed down on the bottom. The bar was Polish so it would be polka music.

I preferred the Friday nights where we stayed at the dorm.

No idea what I was wearing, but it wouldn't have been a skirt or a dress.

I would have been a freshman in college. Drinking age was 19 so can't go to a bar...no "clubs" in my town. I would have been wearing jeans/top and hanging with friends, going to a movie, prepping for a retreat the team was giving.

Senior year in HS, 1974 wearing bell bottoms and short sweater headed to "Fannie Ann's" bar in Dallas to hear the band Summerfield! We were all able to drink at 18. City kids, we had fake ID's since we were around 16 to get into clubs.

I was 17 when I graduated from high school so at 18 I was a freshman in college, living at home and working 25 hours a week in a supermarket. After my first semester I found out that since I worked part time I could request early registration for classes and managed to schedule classes on Mon - Wed- Fri which made work so much easier. I could then work 8 hour shifts on Tues - Thurs and Sat. This was back in the Blue Law days when stores were closed on Sundays.

At 18, I was a freshman in college. Friday nights would start with supper at the sorority house, then back to the dorm to get dressed for my date. If it were a chilly evening, I’d have on a wool A-line skirt, probably a matching sweater over a coordinating blouse. My date would pick me up and we’d go to the pep rally at the student union. After the pep rally, we’d go to someone’s apartment for a party or to my date’s fraternity house for a dance.

Before college started I would probably be wearing an ugly red sport coat, black pants, and a clip on tie and tearing tickets at the door of the movie theater that I worked at as an usher.

After college started I would have been wearing jeans and a stylish shirt and hitting the bars on Pine St. If liquor control was in town and the bars were carding then I'd probably be at an off campus kegger somewhere.

This was in 1981.

I had a full time office job so Friday night was the start of the weekend.

My favourite thing to wear was black velvet skinny jeans, long boots, with a hippy blousey kind of top.

First stop was The Wheatsheaf Pub to meet with friends. Then it was drink, play pool, bar billiards, darts, and discuss if there was somewhere to go.

Those of us who had cars were really popular and we could end up at a house party, or drive a few miles to a country club that always had a disco.

If not, one of my friends had very understanding parents, and a big house, and we all used to pile back there and stay up all night playing music and messing around.

Most carefree days of my life.

I would probably be at my best friend's family's weekend place that was a few miles away. If the weather was nice, we would probably be riding our horses in the moonlight on trails on a nearby ranch that was owed by friends of her dad. We probably would have had some local guys with us. I would be wearing jeans, sneakers and a sweater.

I waited tables back then while going to college. So I was at The Sleepy Hollow Inn making $! Oh, and I'm wearing a black skirt and flats and a white top.

Jeans and t-shirt. Friday nights my first year away from home, I'd be going out with my friends. Sometimes we'd walk to town for an ice cream or doughnut, but mostly we'd walk a block further to a downstairs bar. Get a table, order the first of several pitchers of MIcheloeb, gossip, look at guys and try to figure if they were looking at us, sing along with Kenny Rogers on the jukebox: You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille..... Walk home through the dark, with same friends (we were pretty tame).

Pinwale cords, Topsiders and a sweater and studying. I went to a prep school that had classes on Saturdays.

At 18 I was also a Freshman in college, and working at the world's largest western store. I'd be wearing Gloria Vanderbilt blue jeans, an nice blouse and my ropers. Afterwards, my future hubs would pick me up and we'd go to a late movie.

Most likely at the Hospital serving patients dinner. Afterwards, out with my boyfriend somewhere. I would have been in jeans and a sweater or shirt.

Probably baby-sitting. I was/am an ugly nerd and never in the cool kids crowd.

In December of the year I was 18, I was living with my parents right after they moved from Michigan to Pennsylvania. I got a job in a warehouse filling orders for a hardware store chain (mostly toys). Other than the people I worked with (6 days/week), I knew no one. I did not go anywhere, just sat at my parent's house.

Working the 3p-11p shift at the hospital as a unit clerk, wearing a casual dress or skirt & top. My soon to be husband would pick me up from there, but since I likely had to work the next day also, we didn't often go out after work other than to hang out with some friends for a little while.

I would have been at Bobby McGee's, snuck in by my older friends who knew the bartenders and door men, dancing (and some drinking) to awesome 70's and 80's music til we got kicked out. Then heading over to said friends house to continue the party. Such fun times.

Raee, I started my healthcare career as a unit clerk, but they called them unit secretary. I don't know what they are called now. I liked when I worked 3-11. Very few hastily scribbled handwritten doctors notes to decipher. I had to wear nursing attire. The white dress, white dress and shoes. The only difference was I didn't wear a nursing cap. I was so glad when they had us wear street clothes. "Sorry, no I am not emptying your father's bed pan, but I will get someone who will".

December the year I was 18 would have seen me serving supper to the dorm students at my college where the dressing norm was "preppy" among both men and women. I don't remember what I wore; I was fashion naive and did not know what people meant by "duck shoes," "mocs," "dockers," "khakis," "polos," and so on. After I served supper, I would have taken a bus home to where I lived with younger sibs and mother. Sadly, I probably watched TV all night. I really did not have any friends or know how to make friends. I was a nerd, but unable to connect even with other nerds. I had no money to do anything or go anywhere.

That was the year I met my future husband. We were married nearly sixty five years. We would have been with either his cousins and their boyfriends or with my friend and her boyfriend. I am still in touch with the cousins and my gal friend. I was married in December of that year. 1953.

I was in college and my boyfriend was at another university and would usually try and get a ride down to my school. We'd just hang out. I'd probably be wearing a crewneck sweater, button down shirt, and a wool skirt. maybe knee socks and penny loafers. It was called collegiate then, now preppy and I've dressed that way all my life with variations over the years.

getting ready to go out to party. teasing those front bangs nice and high. some cool white pumps and definitely a jean jacket with an oversized white t-shirt tied off to the side with one of those round plastic thingies!! Those were the days!!

I worked for a recreation department as a life guard in a small town in south Ga. in the summers. Lots of parents had pool parties for their kids on the weekends so I would be there in my 63 style swim suit. Amazing now to think about parents leaving their kids off during the day with 18 years supervising. Loved the kids. Again, Thanks Sal

functionthenlook, it was "ward clerk" initially. Somewhere along the line "ward" transitioned to "unit". This was how I worked my way through college at first, later as an EKG technician. Both jobs no longer existed in the hospitals by the time I finished my career - simple EKGs were done (usually incorrectly, I might add) by the patient care technicians and after EMRs developed to a certain point, nurses were on their own to answer phones, handle paperwork, process orders and so forth.

A date night in my midwestern town meant the movies. I wore heels, and a nice dress or skirt and sweater with a warm winter good coat.

If I am at university, we are going out to eat to escape the horrible cafeteria, maybe the movies and wander around. If I am home, we might cruise The Circuit or visit a Jersey Shore bar to hear a band.

I'd be on a Greyhound Bus on my way home for Christmas. At age 18, it was my first time away from home on my own while earning money to attend college.

Hum 18 years old? I would definitely be wearing my favorite pair of hip hugger big bell jeans 👖 and a cute little crop top. Short lace up leather boots 👢

My friends and I would be going out to a dance club with a great band playing. Dancing the night away. Then to one of the local restaurants for late night munchies. Would be very similar if I was on a date.

Probably out for dinner and then dancing if it were a date night. I usually wore a dress. We aren't allowed alcohol till we are 19 years old here in BC Canada. So if we wanted to drink we would have to do that in a private home. Most of my group didn't go the fake ID route.
