So a lower cabinet to allow the TV to be hung at proper viewing height , that is the center of the screen at eye level when you are seated. The other plus is not seeing any wires. Waht are the squares on the wall are they speakers? Unless you have lovely stuff to display forget the shelving. Why not look at Besta from Ikea to do a whole wall of TV storage and a bit of display.

Low profile for sure - that way you can move your tv down to a better viewing height. Keep the design simple, with clean lines - span much of the wall with the cabinet. You might want to think about a lighter color cabinet to lighten up the room a bit.

Hi Patricia! Those squares are for the surround sound. My husband didn’t want to cover up the trim work on the wall so I feel sort of stuck with what solutions are left.

The first thing I would do is remove the horizontal molding and complete the verticals (just fill gaps and repaint) and it won’t feel as disjointed. You could paint it deep blue to coordinate with your room.

Don’t add shelving, as it will feel too busy. Consider a floor lamp and large plant, per first picture.

I’d look for a low/long console and then decide if you want to place tv on top or on wall.

I love your space. I am not a designed, but I personally love the wood color in the beams. If I were visiting or buying your house, I would want to see them just as they are. I like the suggestion to remove the horizontal lines on your wall though. If you wanted more seating, I could see a larger rug that is visible behind the couch and some side chairs facing the couch.

I like the dark contrast against floor, but a lighter stain will lighten up the space. Going to be a heck of a job though and make sure they work well with undertone in the floors.
