Alice, my SIL puts confetti in birthday cards, after 30 years, you’d think I’d learn, nope! The confetti was all over the floor!

I know right! Lol. Got out all my boxes, going through it now. Squished my bow on my little wreath :(. Had grand baby for three days, man, what a kid! He’s three and i’m not sure if any of you are aware of my kitchen dilemma with shelving and lighting, but if you are, this is funny: so he walks into the kitchen and says “your lights are too bright woman!”

I’m planning to set up hubbies mom’s ceramic tree in dining room and then do something on the front porch. Kittens are not allowing the large tree in living room this year. Ok, enough talk here, see what i can get done by tomorrow.

Improvising here, usually have all this on and near big tree among others. Front porch tomorrow, then have to clear complete laundry room for new water heater Tuesday. Would not be such a big deal but plumber re routing from attic, yikes. On Bois arc beams here, so i think they will over and under and around, yikes!

LOL Alice! You have a lot going on! Love the kitteh pics, the dinkie ceramic tree and the outhouse... My mother had a little teeny powder room en suite in her last house. She had a miniature outhouse collection in there. When she was a girl, she and her sister used to spend time every summer with her grandparents, whose farmhouse was serviced by one outhouse. Having an indoor plumbing/ potty room off the master bedroom must've seemed very extravagant and especially "modern" to her, but she never forgot where she came from. LOL

I live in Mt Lebanon, grew up in Bethel Park..

We lived in Oakmont. Loved that little enclave and easy trip into the city for son’s trumpet lessons, Symphony, shopping and great restaurants! But winter, no! My trip home from work had huge hill that was like ice and my car was stick! Traumatic for sure. Love Texas gulf coast. Moved from Oakmont in 1983. Never looked back. Our daughter and her two sons, our oldest grandsons, live in Gibsonia. Small world eh?

How ‘bout them Steelers! We still have our season tickets. Daughter and grandsons use them. We try to get up there for at least one game every year but not this year. We were on the waiting list for season tickets for 13 years! We moved from Pittsburgh to Atlanta and about a month after we got into our new house, we got a letter! Yep. We were at top of waiting list. Jumped at it. Haha! As you guys probably know, people bequeath their Steelers season tickets in their wills! Loads of fun going to those games. My colleague had 4 seats and we were his “go to people” for years. Had so much fun. They had local Italian restaurants and we had the BEST tailgate food of any. Great memories!!

I understand about the winters- thankfully last year not awful, hopeful for a mild one this year.

We replaced our big tree for three goose feather trees a couple of years ago. Our daughter’s family now has four big boxes of my ornaments. Whew! This is much easier as they are put away as is.

The first mirror is an old Tuesday Morning find. The third is a recent Uttermost find at a local consignment store. Middle one I bought banged up at a long gone local store.

Our dinky tree....We just moved into our newly (almost) rebuilt home and I really wanted a nice tree, even if our living room is still a bit of a construction zone....but then we discovered that we had forgotten that our Christmas ornaments were in the attic and must have gotten demoed along with the house :-( So here is our cute little tabletop tree...

Oh no D! That is a sad story about the forgotten ornaments and the demo. It's so 2020, isn't it?

Hamfast. We worked in Smyrna just outside of Atlanta but lived in Marietta. Loved Atlanta except for traffic! It’s changed a lot since we left. My job had me out of town 50-75% of the time! That I didn’t like. But it lead to me being recruited for Executive position that was great and ultimately to Texas. So all good. I am very Blessed!

We lived in Atlanta area of Vinings-Paces Ferry for ten months. Coming from a tiny southern MD town, every day was like being in the best candy store. Loved it but traffic was a big pain for sure.

Another dinky tree, but in my DD’s case perhaps it’s best called a starter tree. Daughters are academics and always spent the extended holidays at home. This year they’ll be alone, and are trying to bring a little xmas spirit to their own homes via Amazon and Target. It’s certainly a different xmas, but in some ways one we appreciate all the more. We’ve decorated all our trees together via FaceTime. We’ll menu plan and share the same holiday meals. Xmas morning we’ll open presents and in the afternoon maintain our tradition of going to the movies together, this year virtually. “Thru the years we will be together if the fates allow. Until then we’ll try to muddle thru somehow. And have yourself a very merry Xmas now.”

Lisa, you have a well thought out plan. The little tree looks cute next to the fireplace. CT Daughter need to run out and get her bread and milk. Wednesday’s storm has her in the jackpot.

Thanks Ladma...she’s been told. Listening might be a different story. And all those cats who love xmas trees? Not my grandcat Nora. She sleeps under my big tree when she visits for the holidays, but she’s petrified by the dinky tree in her own home.

liasch Oh—Thank you so much! About 1/4 were Old World Christmas ornaments that I collected for years.
I just physically could not do the big tree anymore. The goose feather trees were the perfect solution.
So very sorry for D loosing the ornaments that were stored in the attic. Probably a lot of memories lost.😔

Yes that’s the problem with losing Christmas ornaments… For the most part it’s the memories. I downsized my ornaments this year and as well both of my sons had their own personal collections because I gave them each an ornament each year from the time they were born. Plus a few extra little sentimental ones that were always on our tree. So they had a starter collection. It’s so lovely now when I see my ornaments of many years, hanging on their trees! It’s very sweet. They are both in their 30s and this year I have one last ornament to give them and then that will be it. They need to make their own memories and collections.

rredpenn, sorry for the delay in replying. yes, the tree is fused glass squares of graduated sizes rotated so the corners act as branches. Around the base are a few murano glass candies, some "end of day" pieces from a local art glass studio and some real chocolate.

lolokz, I have a friend with a glass shop (he makes marbles mainly), and I'm gonna broadly hint to him that he needs to help me make some trees like yours. :). Maybe by next year?

I will steal a screen shot of yours to show him. ;)

Ladma, when I was real young I was envious of my friends and neighbors that had one. I just love the colors of the lights all lit up. OH found this for me at a garage sale. However, it is not plugged in here at this house.

Ladma, thank you, thank you!! Your comment "I have since got over myself" shook me out of my "why bother attitude" and the Christmas tree went up this weekend. I'll show the big tree on Sejay's thread, but here is the dinky one that holds ornaments of my mothers that were either hand made or gifted to her, so it is a memory tree.
