O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum!! Show your Christmas Trees!
Comments (57)Thanks Susie :D This cheers me up,too! Hey Kirk, that's what the tree looked like when I was growing up. We planted hundreds and hundreds with our mother it seemed like, even staying out in the woods til well past dark with all sorts of wild animals jumping around at us out there,(back then it was moonshiners you ran into on your property, now it's meth labs) and it was scary when you're only about 6 or 7 years old! I never inherited my mother's ability or want, to wander alone in the woods til wee hours of the morning. After I was married and lived here, we still cut down our own trees, until trespassers stole all of them(to sell, I guess)one year. Some grew back up from the trunks, but we didn't feel like fooling with them any more after that. The smell is great, there's no comparison to a live tree, but we broke down and got an ARTIFICIAL pre-lit one :D lol Too many allergies, they dried out quickly, too. Boy could I tell you some FUNNNNY stories us and the kids endured with live trees ( one year involving a crazy Himalayan cat we had :D ) I can't wait til next Christmas!oh and I see Carol's tree skirt! It's just perfect. Cherry/Kudzu...See MoreDo you use 'Books' in your Christmas Decor? Post here, please!
Comments (7)I got a free photo book from Shutterfly which I finally completed. I decided to title it "Christmas" since that's my favorite holiday, and the "theme" for which I had the most pictures. The photob book will rest on my coffee table during the holidays. I'll try to post pics after the invasion of the bins has ended. Right now they (the bins) are winning....See MoreShow me your fall decor 2020!
Comments (9)I like what you've done, Rebecca! Looks like you're definitely getting into the autumn spirit. It's still very much summer where I am, and while I'm looking forward to cooler temperatures in the next month or two, I'm still focused on outdoor activities. My veggie garden is still growing, and I'm planning to having a small crop of ginormous sunflowers in the next few weeks! That will definitely have a late summer/early fall feel, I think. I tend not to decorate seasonally inside my home. My adult cats are still very much kittenish when it comes to anything new on display, and usually dismantle things for me in no time flat -- so it's just become a futile endeavor for me. I was dismayed to see Christmas displays going up in the same area where Halloween is in full swing at Lowe's recently. It's too early to even THINK about the year-end holidays. I don't know if it's Covid-related, but I do think that a good number of us have sort of gotten used to simply taking things one day at a time in 2020, and not focus too much on the future. Being more "in the moment" has become my new normal; or, at least I find I'm not looking forward as much as I did even last year, because things could change so quickly. I do understand that seasonal decorating helps ground some, however, and certainly get why it appeals to so many....See MoreDinky "nobody is coming, anyhow..." 2020 Christmas trees
Comments (91)Yes that’s the problem with losing Christmas ornaments… For the most part it’s the memories. I downsized my ornaments this year and as well both of my sons had their own personal collections because I gave them each an ornament each year from the time they were born. Plus a few extra little sentimental ones that were always on our tree. So they had a starter collection. It’s so lovely now when I see my ornaments of many years, hanging on their trees! It’s very sweet. They are both in their 30s and this year I have one last ornament to give them and then that will be it. They need to make their own memories and collections....See Morenhb22
