advice on brand of new wood floors
Comments (5)Thanks, boxers. Kahrs comes as one, two or three strips and is an engineered. The one I'm interested in is the oak, american naturals 2 strip and the oak layer is about 14mm thick. I read in another post that floorguy has heard the thick layered engineered are having problems with buckling? I still want to stick with square ends and edges, but I might put in a prefinished solid instead if the engineered are having problems. I want something that is I can refinish several times and that has the depth and beauty that the solid and thicker tops of the engineered have....See MoreBoo...have to get new wood floors. What looks good old house?
Comments (8)We have the same situation (oversanded floors) with our 1916 home. It has standard oak floors so we don't have your issue. We're also doing a small addition--half of which is kitchen--and we need to specify our floors (in the new part) next week. (We'll do the old part later, so we have a place to move our stuff into!) A question: Is Tung Oil usable/advisable in a kitchen? Or should we stick with poly? (We have little kids and really use our kitchen!) And does Tung Oil always yield a dark floor? We'd like it fairly light. What we don't want to end up with is one of those really shiny finishes -- but can good floor guys yield a more traditional finish with poly? Any other ideas? Thoughts please! I know that some people say that pre-finished floors are the best for a kitchen, but we really don't like that beveled-edge look....See Morenew house build- worried about mixing woods in open floor plan. Comments (1)First off you put this in the fireplaces category(?) so not sure how many responses you’ll get. I would NOT plan a kitchen around a table. Do what you want and like, trust me tastes will change and you might want a different table down the road....See Morenew house has rustic wood flooring and rustic wood ceiling white beams
Comments (2)I think you can't ever go wrong with white blinds. Especially if they are high quality custom ones, they will be around longer than your current color scheme....See Morelikestonehomes
