I need to get more specific. The red I'm concerned about is in the kitchen floor..once it's laid. The link below will show you the two colors I'll be using, Roasted Marshmallow and Caboose, which will be in a checkerboard pattern, 12 x 12" squares. The Caboose is more of a rust color, but I love it. tracey_b: most of the garage windows around here have simple or lacey sheers, probably installed using tension rods to keep things easy. It looks nice - less like a garage window and more like a home window. You probably want something that can be washed. Our garage is detached and the windows are all on the upper (storage) level... and they're uncovered. Now I'm thinking I have another project to work on! As for our front windows: the treatments are all different. The windows all have mullions so the look is consistent from that perspective. Maybe I never thought about it because one side of the front has a large blossoming tree, so you don't see those windows as much from the sidewalk. I think I would only notice the backs of WTs from the outside if I had nothing else to notice: no pretty landscaping, porch or pretty front door, etc. I say it's your house - do what makes you happy!

Our home has stained pine 6 panel doors that are in a very rich color. It is one of my favorite parts of the house and I have insisted that we keep the existing and match them as we go through this remodel. They are not very expensive but look good (to my eye anyway). I would do all the doors the same if I were you. : ) Sandy

I use green uplights/floodlights on my white stone (rest of scheme is traditional red, green, and white). Love the effect. I got them at my local hardware store. I’ve seen them at the big box stores, too. The cords on them are very short, though, so for us, lots of extension cords are still needed. One thing to note: make sure the bulbs completely cover the socket. We had some LEDs with narrow bases that didn’t, and the inside of the fixture got rained on and rusted.
