Our entry door is three panel, stained, with an archtop. Our interior passage doors are the same three panel, but flat top and painted. Our French doors are divided light, flat top, painted. The rear entry door is plain with divided light top half, painted. The door to the garage had to be fireproof, and is just a slab, painted. All have similar 'bulk'. All are at least three feet wide and over seven feet tall. All have the same 4" casings. Door hardware on entry and passage doors is Baldwin 'Edinburgh' levers. The Pella French doors came with suitable levers. The variety 'mingles' well, but doesn't *match*. AFAIK, for instance, no one has picked up on the fact that our front elevation has simulated true divided light windows, while the rest of the house's windows and French doors have between-the-glass battens.

Its absolutely fine to go with a different door style. A real colonial/early american 19th c. house often has different doorstyles throughout anyway, ranked on whether the room was "public" or "private", first floor or upper floors, or even by importance in the same room.

After you paint the trim you will be able to tell if it bugs you! My guess is even if it bugs you, it will not be that noticeable. When I painted my daughter's room Ballerina Pink, I quickly realized the existing white molding, which I had not intended on painting, looked AWFUL, I immediately had to paint all the trim a brighter white. Her plantation shutters still bug me.. but I didn't paint those!

You already did the inside, yes? The inside trim, while you may love Craftsman style, is at odds with the feeling of the house. Just a simpler, palin and beefier trim to the exterior. Craftsman, is SO obviously a trim style, it is best where it makes sense.......and the doors are particularly telling. Some styles work anywhere. A single recessed panel, a two panel at most. Neither screams any specific style. Craftsman is another story, altogether. In your home? It's the pics below. Fits.....and maybe too much a style "stretch". Nobody would suggest that a sixties or seventies home must retain slab doors and ranch molding. But you don't want a gigantic "surprise" , either. You can't take a frosted San Francisco Victorian, and be anything but shocked to find it stripped of all trim inside, anymore than a farmhouse would be laden with gooey frosting INSIDE. For those expensive re trimming projects? Consider the feel. Carefully. : )
