Furniture Design Dilemma living room

Living room set up

I would like to buy new furniture for this room and I am not sure with the TV being on the separate wall as the fireplace what the set up should be. This is the main family room where we would like to entertain friends and family with plenty of seating. I am not sure if we should go with a custom sized sectional (RH style) and a side chair or have 2 large sofas and possibly a side chair, or have a large sofa and 2 or maybe 3 chairs. Any opinions would be helpful!

Hanging TV console 25% wider than TV. Make sure TV is at correct viewing height, it looks a little high. 2 sofas: 1 facing TV and 1 facing TV. 2 chairs and table between where the buffet is now

The TV is too high you need a cabinet below it at the height that brings the TV so that the center of the screen is at eye level when you are seated. What is the big empty space for? IMO if this is all LR you need 2 seatng areas and IMO one for TV and one for the FP would be perfect. If you post a to scale floor plan we could help better ,

@decoenthusiaste That's a great idea to do a cutout. I'll definitely do that to play around with placement. The mantle is 76 inches wide so it looks like it'll fit but will double-check with the cutout method! As far as that corner goes, it's currently part of the "walkway" that's most efficient to get to the main level powder room, which is located directly behind the right wall (behind the current TV set up) from the kitchen. So thought to keep it super simple and clean with maybe wall or corner shelving or just putting a ladder for throws, but DEFINITELY open to any suggestions at this point.

Thank you for all your comments and suggestions. We are now leaning towards leaving the fireplace but expanding the casements as wide as we possible can on either side of the fireplace. We have about 83 inches on each side; however taking into account trim, I think we would be safe with 78 inches of space for windows. Thoughts on having 3 casements (one opening and 2 fixed) all the same size or two casements (one opening and one fixed) the same size or 2 casements with the opening one being smaller than the fixed one? Thoughts?

Your sectional seems too big for the room. How about setting it against the wall, with the tv across in the entry path? That might help balance the space. Then add some tall case goods to that long entry wall. And an area rug.

Nice space! If you could provide more details such as the style or color you prefer, the color and size of the sofa and whether you will be replacing the furniture... That would be wonderful and I believe there will be more specific advice for you from this warm forum. Here are some bits and pieces of advice, hope it can help a liittle: I noticed those curtain rods and if you have a need of filtering lights and protecting privacy, I would recommend blackout curtains. They can also add such a fresh touch to the space. For the sofa, I would suggest placing it in the corner, rugs and some other simple decors could make a lovely coner! Will the dining table and office desk be replaced? Here is some inspo if you need.
