Living Room Layout Advice

Hello, All.

We decided to redo our living room in our raised ranch house and would like to ask for tips, advice on furniture arrangement. The room is quite small.

The first picture is how it was (orange sectional) and the following are pictures of the progress. Orange stuff on the fireplace wall is remnants of old setup that we haven't gotten to yet.

First -- not really sure what to do with a new empty corner. Probably some higher round end table or something. Going to repaint the Fireplace wall with something lighter.

This is the room when we watch our TV.

All suggestions are welcome -- is there a better way to arrange things?

A table in the middle would look nice. And the decor on that table that's in between the sofas could have a lamp instead. It all depends on what style you like.

Yeah, we are probably going to add a puff or something to put our legs on in the middle.

As for the corner -- for now we just stole one of the bedside tables -- work in progress. :)

How many people in your household? WE opted for a "love seat" vs a full couch, with two chairs. There really is no reason to have the seating arrangement FACE the fireplace. As long as it is view-able from the seating arrangement everyone will be able to enjoy a fire. What do you have in the way of a TV stand? Would anyone consider putting it up against the railing? Wonder if there is a way to make the back look tidy?

I think placing the two leather chairs in front of the window where the fabric chair is will present a more welcoming view from the entry. Angle the blocky chair where they were but pulled back into that corner as far as possible so it doesn't appear to block the entry. You might play with the large baskets under the sofa table to configure the hassock concept. I really think a round one would better disrupt the blockiness of the Tallulah pieces. Consider keeping its size within the width of the firebox opening for some balance. How about some art above the mantel? I can't see that the mirror is doubling anything worth seeing twice.

Thank you so much for your input, I really appreciate it! Ill attach pics and more info in case you might have some more suggestions. -First of all- there are 3 of us, we travel a lot- so we aren’t all here together normally but when we are we like to entertain and use this space to host people for dinner and drinks. We have all been out of town, so please excuse the Christmas tree - The focal point is one of the problems with this room. We do want a TV in here so trying to decide to put it on the wall adjacent to entrance or on wall next to bay windows. We also want a bar cart, with fig leaf/palm tree wall paper, I’ve attached an example. - All the furniture is mismatched and just put in here for the time being. May keep the TV table, but that’s really it for the room that we are considering keeping. - We plan on ceiling to floor curtains, just haven’t finalized a color scheme. Also considering painting room lighter.

The gold walls don't work with the new furnishings nor do the patterned drapery panels

The rug would look better if it were one size larger

The sofa chould be centered in front of the picture window to allow a bit more space for the oversized loveseat. That will necessitate moving the accent chair

I have added a round coffee table, but it could be a rectangle as an alternative.

Thanks for the diagram. Either a circle or rectangle coffee table. Would a marble coffee table look good?

Bevery, makes sense. Wall color change is on our wish list. Got to work out the courage for the amount of walls we have to repaint.
