Hello! I am trying to figure out what to do with our sectional and table in our family room. I’m going a bit nuts because I can’t figure out the right layout and it is heavy to move :)

The sofa measures 113x74”. Both rugs are 8x10.

On the blank wall I am planning on putting a shelving system (Rakks or Modern Shelving) that will allow for a TV that is hidden and/or on an extendable arm so it can be adjusted to point to the sofa. I didn’t want the tv to be the focal point. We have great views and don’t watch it much anyway.

Ideas?

Bring the sectional and rug as in the 1st picture down to FP end. Move the blue rug, table & chairs down in front of bay window. Table belongs under the hanging light.

This is such a pretty room!! Omg love! Anyways. I agree. The current light you have needs to have the table under it. Either we can swap the light or just move the table. I also think your not satisfied with the current because the couch is blocking rounded bay windows. So it looks a bit strange. Again,that’s why the table would help if it was there. If the couch is on the FP side of the room I’d face it the other way than from the picture shown meaning facing the porch doors and FP. also, when and if you move things around make sure the couch is on the rug.... you have very nice furniture and a beautiful space!! Love it and totally see the vision

Post a picture of the room, draw the room with dimensions and all openings. Nobody knows what wall has what : ) Or if you even have any furniture to "arrange"

Not a Pro. I see the registries, but I would probably flip the room so that the sectional is on the window side. Just put it a few inches from the wall so that you have room for drapes and registries to do their job. Maybe add a very thin sofa table behind the sofa to give it the space it needs. Long console with tv on the full wall. Probably would get a floating console, so that room would look larger with all that floor space showing. Put two chairs near the fireplace. Add cocktail table. Possibly a table near one of the chairs near the fireplace or a standing light fixture. No matter how you decide to decorate this room, please post an updated picture :-)

A sectional won't give you the variety of interior decorating choices that a couch and two chairs. Also, ceiling lights don't do anyone any favors. Much better is a table lamp or wall sconce in each corner at chest height.

I want to get rid of the lamp. I do not like it at all. I had the table originally under the hanging light but it sort of cuts the room off because then the sofa has to have the long side towards the door and I find that changing the sides that the furniture is on makes the room more open. I agree with you point about the bay window though! It bugs me...
