Backsplash recommendations for white cabinets

Just repainted the cabinets. Countertop staying. Room will have new paint as well as hopefully newly stained wood floor in a darker color. Looking for backsplash recommendations that wouldn’t clash with the countertops and will snazz the place up without being too trendy or bold.

You already have a 4” backsplash. Paint the area the same as wall color in a durable washable finish.

ccwaters, true that crackle tile may stain, but that is why most manufacturers will recommend that crackle tile should be sealed. Do the research on what you are buying and how to properly care for it! I used a Pratt & Larson crackle and their specs stated the following: "All Crackle glazes in the RC and W line should be sealed to prevent water penetration and tile discoloration. Seal all crackle glazes with penetrating silicone sealer before and after grouting. Watercolor and RC glazes will continue to crackle over time. For long term maintenance we recommend resealing the crackled tiles every 3-6 months for the first year and every 6 months afterwards to further protect the glaze surface."

I don't know what your client has in mind completely. It might be worth asking the client for some inspiration pictures for what she has in mind. I think some glass mosaics might be overpowering for that granite. But there are some glass mosaics that might work as long as they are very plain. Super white glass tile Maybe something like this with a tiny bit of pattern: Silver planks glass tile Or maybe this one which might work with the colour in the counter: glass mosaic - raw silk

Would love to see what the final result is. I'm getting ready to redo a teeny, tiny kitchen and was considering bead board cabinets for my mid 1930's beachy, cottage. I always wanted white subway tile and was thinking the lines will be an issue and googled ideas and found this page. I have not committed to the cabinets just yet will be doing so this week. I can change to shaker or shaker with a little added trim detail (would match the linen closet). I would love to see what you have done with your backsplash and counters. I love carrarra marble but am concerned about scratching, staining etc.

I don't mind your flooring so much. however, please wait until the granite is installed before deciding on a backsplash. there is no rush. nothing can be installed until it's in. grab some samples and wait. this one is random linear bar marble if you want the glass bars: (the one in the pic may be from oceanside glass or Lunada bay. here are some others) https://www.fastfloors.com/tile/soho-studio-corp/uptown-sense-railroad/ice/ https://www.mineraltiles.com/random-glass-mosaic-tile-linear-branco/ that tile above is similar to this one. the granite is Alaska White or maybe look at porcelain chevron, or picket tile

Ok, that just occurred to me that part is a backsplash. So adding additional tile backsplash on top would look bad and wrong I’m gathering.

Now I’m thinking of removing those 4 inches if possible.

The cabinets look very nice. Countertop with small backsplash works. Just paint and done.

Thanks, we added the crown molding and new hardware and beadboard too. I am worried about this little backsplash, though. I know it’s already a dated looking kitchen but doing what we can. I guess we can always just paint first and see how we like it before trying to do big changes to the countertop.

What's so dated about it? I think it's fine. I'm not a fan of the 4" backsplash and think that is an element that is out of style but plenty of other folks have them and are quite happy with their kitchens and don't consider them dated. So pick one or the other -- 4" backsplash and paint, or tile all the way down to the counter -- and call it done.
