please explain runner vs half runner
Comments (14)Confusion, confusion, confusion, another example, starts when some pole beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) are referred to as runners just because they climb. When I see 'runner' in a description it makes me think of Phaseolus coccineus but it's not always so, it could be a climbing common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris). Another example, 'Somas Greek Lima' is not a lima (Phaseolus lunatus) it's a runner (Phaseolus coccineus), the lima part of the name referring to it either looks like or tastes like a lima bean. We ran into this when we were trying to find out what the Greek 'Gigandes' was, names can be confusing too. Does this help or am I adding to the confusion :). Comments (30)Sigh - did a bit of looking yesterday and my husband really doesn't like the sisal look, he wants something with a bit of a pattern. I told him that I don't care for the large floral pattern that seems to be the norm for stairs these days so am looking for a compromise. It was also a bit frustrating because the sales person kept trying to steer us to a low cut pile and said that would be fine on stairs. We did find a nice one in Shaw Caress line that had more of a linear textural pattern. I also quite like this one that I found on Houzz (linked below) but didn't see anything similar in the store. Hello from Brookside Julie! We are loving the new house and neighborhood. We have been to Bella Napoli several times, I recall you saying that it was one of your favorites. We went to Southside yesterday, our first stop. They were going to call us after talking to one of their dealers who carries a wool blend carpet, so we'll see what they come up with. Here is a link that might be useful: [anybody know where to find a similar runner?[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/fremont-georgian-residence-traditional-staircase-minneapolis-phvw-vp~4577709)...See MoreTorn between two granites
Comments (49)Colorfast - did you see my comment above that you should take samples home with you to see how they will look in your kitchen, your light, etc.? You didn't mention that you've done that, even though you went back to the stone yard. It would be very helpful in your decision. I'm sorry but I think your friend is wrong or misinformed in saying that these granite choices would be a problem to sell your house. Both granites are beautiful, and would actually help to sell your house IMHO, rather than some boring granite that buyers will see over and over in developers' subdivisions, cause the granites are easy to find and the developers can buy them, literally, by the ton. I have Piracema granite counters, also called "Wave" granite, which has a bit of similarity to your blue choice because of the waviness, and the blue, though yours is darker. Like many granites, Piracema looks different with different slabs, some lighter, some darker, some busier, some quieter pattern. I don't have a pic of my slab, but I'll link a pic I saw online that is similar to mine . My point is that I have had it installed for 6 years, and (A) it looks as good as the day it was installed, even though I have not been careful with it, (B) people ooh and ah over it when they come to my house, and (C) I have never yet grown tired of looking at the beautiful pattern of waves, every morning when I come down to the kitchen. That is why I like your blue choice better....See MoreGranite decision "was" made...but I'm still torn...help please.
Comments (27)This is the Blue Astral that I'll be using in my half bath. It is almost translucent when polished. Just incredible. Never have seen anything like it and the yard says it's very rare and they will probably not ever see any like it again. It's not like the Big flower I posted above. It's from the same quarry, but was mined years before the the big flowers. mcocean- googled your white and it looks like a great stone with movement. What are your plans? hobokekitch- your right it is blingy and the green is amazing. Plus I actually like the other blue astral a bit better. Karin mt- blue is a semiprecious stone and agree that my kitchen will be better off with a green that will work better with the wood and the style of the house. I too loved the bling factor!! Laura15- I know, you look back, you go back. It's a saying for a reason! AnnaC54- yes, I can't believe how many trips I've made back and forth to the yard there. Not much around here. So it's 1 1/2 hours in each direction. I know every inch of the place. It's unique, the guy who owns it travels around the world for his pieces and he has about 4000 on site. Crazy inventory for an out of the way yard in a rural state. Please post a picture of your Seafoam. would love to see. I will post my results also!...See MoreHU-187528210
