Nightstand and dresser or chest dilemma for dark wood bed
Hi all. I would appreciate any input or suggestions. I purchased a Kisper bed from Ansley and purposefully wanted to purchase mismatched pieces for the guest room. The bed hasn't arrived yet but I am in a rush to order a nightstand and dresser or chest that would contrast the bed and tie everything together. I live in an apartment and the walls are painted an eggshell white and there is cream/sand color carpeting. I am torn whether to go with black contrasting nightstand/chest or dresser or white. I am looking for a contemporary transitional look. If you can suggest any nightstand and/or dresser or chest please. (I will be needing only 1 nightstand and either a dresser or chest) Thank you kindly in advance for any suggestions!

Oh, I forgot to mention and I think this would probably be relevant, the room has a grey door and also matching grey double closet doors.

Comments (12)ajc9: I like the look of your bedroom set as well, but I agree that the night stands are a little boxy and "immature" looking, if you get my drift. They look like sturdy stuff for a kid's room. I also think that you can stay with straight lines similar to your other pieces, just not those night stands. Like I said, I like my round ones, but they match my bed, which is a little more contemporary than yours. If that line of furniture doesn't have other options you could use for night stands, you'll have to look elsewhere -- a nuisance, but you might find just the thing. It would center over the bed, so the art would move. It is a bit on the modern side, but I think might be very cool in your space: giclee retro lamp You can see that they have the shade for sale alone, as well as other styles of the lamp with the shade at the bottom of the page. I like how it picks up your colors, including the taupe/beige squares that echo your bedding and window treatments. Do look at their selection of lamps. Many have free shipping, and they have tons of plug-in wall lamps that don't have to be hardwired to work. Seeing your floor plan, I would be inclined to flip the bed to the opposite wall, and let the dresser be on the wall by the closets. This is where idea books are helpful it gives us a peak into what you like. I find 4poster beds are a fit proble visually sometimes even thogh the space seems it would handle one. If Bassett is too expensive, I’m sure similar ones could be easy to find. For a guest room, you could also look on Facebook Marketplace. (I found one below in my area in a minute) and then you could add a round mirror.

Maureen, thanks to your suggestions I think I may have found a great nightstand. I cannot afford the Basset furniture but it was great inspiration. My local FB Marketplace has nothing nice that would fit what I need. I found an all wood children's dresser that has great reviews and many people have used as an extra large nightstand! On Photoshop I simulated how it may look next to the bed and I think it will work! I am attaching an image of my mockup and a link to the dresser/nightstand in case anyone is interested! One of the biggest challenges is that the guest room is small and because the double closet doors open out, space is very limited and with a queen size bed, I only have 118 inches of space from wall to wall so the queen bed plus some the wide dresser I'd be using as a nightstand would require 100 inches give or take. I need to have the bed pushed on the right side about 10 inches from the wall and the nightstand will be on the left side.
Since this is mainly for a guestroom like when my Mom stays here a couple of months and when my oldest son comes home from the university, the 2 extra drawers could be used to store some clothes and this way I may not need to purchase a dresser or chest after all especially with the lack of space there is.
