Walnut bed and dresser...nightstand advice?
Comments (12)ajc9: I like the look of your bedroom set as well, but I agree that the night stands are a little boxy and "immature" looking, if you get my drift. They look like sturdy stuff for a kid's room. I also think that you can stay with straight lines similar to your other pieces, just not those night stands. Like I said, I like my round ones, but they match my bed, which is a little more contemporary than yours. If that line of furniture doesn't have other options you could use for night stands, you'll have to look elsewhere -- a nuisance, but you might find just the thing. My choice would be painted pieces; but metal could work....See MoreNightstand(s) and lamp(s)
Comments (39)OMG - what a goofball I am. I have been working so many hours and am so short on sleep - sorry I didn't include the link for the lamp. It would center over the bed, so the art would move. It is a bit on the modern side, but I think might be very cool in your space: giclee retro lamp You can see that they have the shade for sale alone, as well as other styles of the lamp with the shade at the bottom of the page. I like how it picks up your colors, including the taupe/beige squares that echo your bedding and window treatments. Do look at their selection of lamps. Many have free shipping, and they have tons of plug-in wall lamps that don't have to be hardwired to work. Seeing your floor plan, I would be inclined to flip the bed to the opposite wall, and let the dresser be on the wall by the closets. Seems like you could put the dresser a bit to the left on that wall, and still fit in a nice chair in the corner near the window. Thanks for moving the pillow! Comments (5)The width of the wall is 16 ft. I saw this nightstand and it's nice but it's smaller than I'd like. Century does have a lot of customizable options that would work, but it gets rather pricey. I was looking for something with one or two drawers and a shelf. I love the idea of the shelf. It's perfect for stacking books and adding a decorative bowl to hold smaller items. As for my bed, I'm going to get a new one so it's clean slate. I'm really building this around the dresser. They featured this dresser in a magazine and paired with a textured fabric, navy, nightstand which was really pretty. I'm just looking for more inspiration. Thank you!...See MoreNightstand and Dresser Help
Comments (4)Beautiful piece! You have a lot of options as far as coordinating furniture goes but here is an idea of what route you could take with it: Selecting a piece or two with a similar wood tone as the bed will be a great start. Staying away from too much wood by adding in some painted finishes or metallics will help keep the room light. Choosing a nightstand or accessories with more organic figuring will soften the rectilinear dominance and prevent your space from feeling too dark and heavy. Happy shopping!...See MoreLuly Lopez
