You know quartz is not a good idea behind the range and IMO quartz is never my go to for counters I much prefer a nice white polished granite and it can easily be mixed with an absolute black granite for backsplash.

do you have to use the quartz as the backsplash?

You'd have more options if you did a tile. you could do a solid white quartz countertop, and then something like an Arabescato tile splash

(you could have a 4x12 size, just showing you what it looks like)

Super White Dolomite is also an option.

but if you choose this, I'd opt for a cool black tile splash

or do the same black quartz behind the solid white counter

as for being behind the stove, it should be fine. just don't put hot pots up against it.

if you want a showy island, then the other countertop w/it going up the backsplash should be more subdued.

If you want the backsplash to be the star, then the island material should be more subdued. You shouldn't have "two leading stars". One takes center stage, and the other is 'supporting'. Decide which you want it to be.
