New pink eureka lemon dropping leaves

Hello all!

Currently in Northern California (Zone 9b) with family, and BIL bought a pink eureka lemon from Lowe's last week. Tag says Four Winds Growers, it looked generally healthy with large leaves and quite a number of dime-length sized fruit, and a few bloom buds. It dropped a few lower leaves at the store (full, including the little stems connecting to the branch, so assumed they were just older leaves).

It's been on a sunny patio with 6-ish hours of sunshine and hasn't yet been repotted or watered (the wood dowel inside the planter was very wet, soil along edges are dry a few inches down).

I cut off all the fruit a couple days ago to help it refocus its energy. Low night temps in the past week ranged in the upper 30s-low 40s.

Today noticed there's a healthy upper leaf that dropped but the little stem is still attached, so assume it's caused by either shock/winter leaf drop?

Thanks in advance for any help - it's super appreciated!
