Quartzite Countertop Honed/Polished + backsplash/paint question
Comments (38)Does anyone have any updates about the honed quartz? I was looking at calcatta vicenza in matte ( honed) because when i went to MSI in Norwood, MA, I found that the matte wasn't as busy of a pattern and it was a lighter, more soothing design. After reading these reviews i'm nervous about the honed but I do like it better than polished, and I find that polished is more of an ivory and the matte is more of a white. Please help! I'm meeting tonight with the contractor....See MoreMSI Quartz: Cashmere Carrara vs. Calacatta Vicenza OR Cambria Torquay
Comments (14)We've had MSI Arctic White for over 18mos now. I love it. Haven't had any scuffing, scratching, or staining issues. Damp paper towel takes most everything off. I use Clorox Wipes for coffee rings or berry "ghosting" and give it a good general wipe down 2x per week. We looked at a lot of the quartz "marble" looking options, but someone made a comment that the veins either look fake or resemble (leg) spider veins. After hearing that, I can't "unsee" it! ha! The plain white has been a perfect backdrop for adding color and texture elsewhere (grout, wood cutting boards, walls, etc.). I also find that I like seeing exactly how dirty the counter top is (so I can wipe it off)!...See MoreBacksplash suggestions for Silestone Eternal Calacatta Gold
Comments (12)Have a look at this thread. They used Cloe Tile with Silestone Eternal Calacatta Gold. It really looks gorgeous and I've bookmarked it myself for a future project. I agree that mixing the real marble with the Silestone may not work well. But I think you can put some sample boards together for your favourite choices and lean them up against the wall to help you visualize. You can also try different grout colours on your sample boards. The Cloe tile has significant variation and I think that is a plus. The problem of matching the white of your cabinets with the white in the Silestone and another white in your backsplash can be really tough. They are never all going to be the same and if you miss on one of the choices, then something is going to look dingy. But I think the colour variation in the Cloe tile will help with that, pull all the whites and some of the colour from the Silestone together. I'm sure it will be lovely. Please be sure to come back and post photos when you're done as well as work in progress photos....See MoreMSI Calacatta Prado - looking for pictures
Comments (121)Karen, accessible beige would look awesome. Would love to see it finished if you do end up using the Prado. Prado absolutely has the warmth and brown in the vein, with some gray too. Plus, the Prado looks way more natural IMO to all the other Quartz. If you like the look of the Prado, you should also look into Vadara Quartz if it’s available near you. Vadara will be a little more $ probably. But they’re my fav manufacturer, about 75% of their colors are also extremely natural looking. Not so much of that stark artificial white, but more of a milky marble looking style. Look up Sereno Gold or Calacatta Oro. Those would also look fantastic with the beige paint. 😊...See Morecawaps
