I hit the drapery lottery. Now what?
Comments (24)Yes m'am, Ingrid. Photobucket is back up. Here is the paint again. Amy's Sarasota Sands, EKs version of Farrow and Ball's String. It is painted on the wall above the row of samples and to the left. The sample card is the second over - which looks greyer on the card. I like it on the wall. I don't so much like Cornsilk, the lighter color below and the 4th from the right card. Too bright and too yellow I think. These are the other drapes. Two long panels totaling just over 14 feet. They have a sheen and a flub (is that the word?). Are they a silk you think or something else? I vaugely remember something about burning a thread and if it smells like burning hair, the fabric is silk... did I make that up? Whatever they are, I think they will be happy in my bedroom which is painted that rosey cream color. Our more formal stuff is gathered there - very different look from the main living areas. LOL, think those old sheers could use a pressing?...See MoreFull overlay cabinet doors hit each other/won't close properly
Comments (53)Thanks again for all these helpful tips and suggestions. Sophie and salex: Regarding adjusting the hinges in all dimensions, I have already tried adjusting all the screws (that is why the cabinet door in the right is a little higher than the one on the left) and it just seemed to make everything worse. But I can try again. Do you have suggestions for how to go about doing this? Should I adjust them all to one extreme or the other and then start tweaking various dimensions? you noticed that the doors are not parallel at the top but what you can’t see is that due to my adjustments the doors on the double cabinet are “out” or forward of all the other doors in the bank. I did have a “cabinet handyman” come out and try the same and he was unable to align them so that they could close. He got good reviews on Angie’s List but maybe he just didn’t know what he was doing? I’d gladly pay someone with experience and expertise to come and do it for me - my own experience was that each adjustment made the overlap even worse than before, so I stopped....See MoreWell, it’s hit home now.
Comments (60)My son's fiancé is an RN at a long term health care facility. They have been in lockdown since March and had their first case two weeks ago in a patient. The virus was transmitted from an asymptomatic aide. There are now 19 patients and staff affected, with one death. My son's fiancé began experiencing a fever 6 days ago, and has tested positive. Thankfully her symptoms remain mild with minor body aches and fatigue, low grade fever lasted 3 days. She and my son live together. Two days ago he started feeling ill with totally different symptoms of a body rash and headache. That is what's so frustrating about this virus, it can affect people so differently. He was tested on Friday and should hear within 3-5 days. Being that his fiancé is a health care worker, her test was expedited and she was notified within 24 hours. Terilyn and Jewel, I'm hoping symptoms remain mild and all have a quick recovery. Hugs!...See MoreHas a business that you liked closed due to Covid 19?
Comments (51)Alternative Reality, denialist thinking still much in evidence - and not just on this forum. On the way to the bank I had to pee so I ducked into the green grocery I like. Shoppers everywhere (as in too many to maintain adequate distance) even though they had a roped entrance with an employee sitting there, supposedly limiting and regulating the number of people in the store at any one time. After hitting the restroom thought I would grab a few items while I was there. Nope, checking the deli section I saw a tallish man leaning on the bussing station looking at his phone with his mask off his nose - this put him in a position where he was exhaling out into the main walkway through that part of the store. And so on - I soon fled without doing any shopping. Walking back to my car I saw three people standing and talking at close quarters not far from where people coming from all over the lot converged to enter the store. No sign of masks on the talkers, I got the impression they might not have been wearing them the whole time since the pandemic started - there actually are people around that still refuse to wear them at any time. And the body language of these three projected an attendant attitude, as though they had gone there intending to walk in without masks only to encounter the mask required signage and the woman in the chair....See Morejkayd_il5
