No, not crazy at all... or rather, if you are then so am I. That's exactly what I just had installed in my main bathroom last week. Couldn't find any vanity lights that worked with the look I was going for, (sleek & modern) so I used two 3-track bars over the two sinks. The electrician phoned to tell me the lights I'd bought were supposed to go on the ceiling, not the wall, but everyone who's seen them thinks they look great. They fit the room much better than any 'bathroom' fixtures would have. Another big advantage is that they swivel to point in the direction you want. I got the idea from an Ikea showroom. It opened up a lot of options to realize that you don't HAVE to use lights only in the room they're designed for. If they suit the decor no buyers will even notice they're in the 'wrong' room.

We are thinking of replacing the single boob light in our kitchen. The biggest problem here is that there is no lighting above the stove, which you can't see very well in the picture because its right beside the refrigerator and honestly, cooking there is like cooking in a cave...I would assume....save for the above-stove microwave light. We have some improvised ikea spotlights that we're using about the stove now but we'd like a more unified solution that provides lighting for both the sink area and the stove area. We were thinking of using the existing box to install track lighting, perhaps one of those flexible ones, that would extend to the stove area maybe with spotlights that can be aimed towards the sink and a pendant for the peninsula (that's in front of the sink area, not pictured). We have a very tiny budget for this so something simple and inexpensive but that still looks nice would be preferred. I hope we're not asking too much. We would appreciate any suggestions! There are two different kinds of track lighting: line voltage and low voltage. I believe the kind you are talking about is low voltage which has the bendable tracks. The transformer has to be either on the light fixture or it can be hidden above the ceiling (if you have an attic). Line voltage is more traditional. Here is a picture of track lighting from my kitchen. I have three cans and two pendants. They sell connectors specifically for pendants that twist directly into the track.

The bulbs are incompatible with your dimmer. Remove the dimmer and replace it with a switch. Philips sells a "fake" dimmer you can attach to -- but is not actually wired to -- the wall (Philips, HD). The track lights are fine.
